Your information and guidance has been invaluable throughout the many months since the ALJ examination.
May you always have walls for the winds; A roof for the rain, tea beside the fire; Laughter to cheer you, those you love near you; And all your heart might desire!

Thanks to Pixie and all posters. This board has been so helpful both as to stress-reduction and to information in general and in specifics. I am looking forward to meeting my June classmates or likely July 7th.

I echo the sentiments. As an outsider, the info I learned and the perspective you provided not only educated me but also reassured me greatly. I have learned to believe in pixies. Unfortunately, although I had a pretty good score and thought I had a good interview, the pixie dust didn't drift far enough to make me geographically desirable. I'm sorry I won't get to meet you and thank you in person.

Thanks guys. About 8 or 9 years ago I realized that none of the candidates, especially the outsiders, had a clue as to what was going on. At that time I was in a position to have some useful information. I started sharing it. It took a while for the posters to believe what I told them, but eventually everyone came around. This was on the board that was the predecessor to Ben's board*, or maybe the one before that. I never gave out confidential information; it wasn't secret stuff. It was just what was going on in the glass palace. What is common knowledge there usually doesn't "trickle" down to the commoners--even when Ronald Reagan was President. So I provided a steady stream of information to the candidates, who otherwise wouldn't have known what was going on. A couple or so years ago I changed jobs--a much better job--and I no longer get the inside information like I used to. The ones at the top (OCALJ and SSA) have changed, so things are done a little differently these days. PatriotsFan, I hope my husband doesn't read your post, he may take a closer look at me! I am surprised that Wilddog has the energy left to post after all of those cats he has chased and all of the PMs he has sent me! My husband was beginning to get suspicious, but calmed down when I explained that he was just a wilddog. To Boley, once on the certificate, the scores are no longer as relevant as they were at OPM. A low score can keep a candidate from being selected if there is a candidate with VP above that lower scoring candidate. As long as the agency selects within the top three, and doesn't pass over a veteran for someone with a lower score, the agency can pick whomever it wishes. There were some desirable candidates that the agency would have liked to have selected, but were unable to do so because their scores were low enough that they couldn't be reached on this certificate. Maybe next time. To all of you nonbelievers: It might help your chances the next time if you begin the practice of leaving out a saucer of milk at night. In the olden days this was the practice of those who walked on the moors at night, It had a calming affect on the pixies and made them less likely to cause problems for those who were out and about late at night. Many pixies don't drink the milk, but they like to see it out each night as it marks the ones in that house as true believers. My husband leaves milk each night. Recently I have convinced him it is a good idea to leave cookies as well. He is a believer in the ones who fly with Peter Pan. This has been a long and hard process; I'm glad to see it wind down. Later, Pix. ________ *Ben has cleaned up the trolls on his board. Unfortunately he didn't have time to do it before the trolls ran everyone off. So now it is a safe place to visit. I am hoping it will find its niche in the land of ODAR world. Thanks to Drone for getting this board going so we could escape the pervasive ugliness that had become so prevalent on Ben's board. This board has definitely taken over ALJ hiring but there are still many other ODAR topics out there that need discussing. We here are known as TOB over there. Meaning "The Other Board." The link to Ben's Board, for you newbies, is: aljimprovement.proboards45.com/index.cgi Go over there, sign up, and be ready to contribute to the discussions when you get acclimated to the new world in which you are about to enter.

Thanks to Pixie, propmaster, semipa, and others who posted info, tracked stats, made polls, etc., and made this process a whole lot more tolerable.

Hear, hear. This board has been so valuable to me, as an outsider. I've appreciated the polls, the score tracking, the wisdom of Pixie and other SSA people. I feel like I've learned a great deal about this new job of mine, and that much of the advice will stand me in good stead once I step into the halls of SSA.

Thanks Pix. Job well done. I can’t imagine having gone through this process without the information, encouragement, and good natured fun (e.g. Top 10 Songs to Wait With , Date/hr pool, etc.) to reduce the stress. ;D

Thanks Pixie, and all of the other regular providers (too numerous to mention) of information in this application process, otherwise cloaked in secrecy. You'all have made the process much easier to understand, and a lot less stressful. Although I didn't get an offer, you permited me to take my best shot. Best wishes to all of you. Hopefully, we'll meet down the road.

I cannot thank Pixie enough for her kindness and generosity of her time & wisdom that she has extended to so many. We all have come to rely upon her so much. The fact that Pixie is no longer with SSA is even more impressive, as it speaks volumes about the type of person (fairy) she is by continuing to help us. Especially since she seems to be doing it from Ireland! Bless you Pixie!
