We have been encouraged by some to call the HOCALJ of the assigned office, yet the message with the offer said not to make contact until offers were completed and processed. Any thoughts what happens next (other than the promised package of materials within the next two weeks) or how long we should wait?

Uh oh! My email had no such information to wait to contact the HOCALJ, nor about a two week time frame to get a package of materials. Guess different folks composed the emails.

There is no real rush, although some of the offices would like to get in touch with the new judges to be. All of you ought to sign in to check you private messsages to see if there is a contact message there.

If the office gets a month notice you are coming, that should be more than enough time to get an office and supplies ready and to arrange for a mentor. In the past, often the first an office would know that a new judge had been assigned was when he walked in the door, thinking he was ready to go to work! That has changed over the years, and I imagine that most know through the grapvine, and this board, that they are getting a new judge.

It will be awhle before all of the dust settles and everything gets back up to speed. This has been a massive undertaking, not only from your perspective, but from the perspective of OCALJ as well. Pix.

I will offer what personnel told me. I was asked not to contact my HO. I was told that all of the HOs did not know they were getting ALJs an it might take a few weeks to get all of that information out.

My email did not mention any such restriction.

My offer did not relate non-contact with HOCALJ. It did not really matter, though, because my current office and my future office were cognizant of my selection and congratulatory messages reached me.
