and I'm one of those that firmly believes that the music of the 60's and early 70's defined the era - not just contributed to the tone, but defined it. Buffalo Springfield, Doors, America; all of them.
And moving from the 66-69 musical era, America's tone, beat, and lyrics defined a whole new lifestyle (I almost lost it when I wrote "genre") - lifestyle. It became a bit of a different world. Vietnam became Watergate. Landing on the Moon became old news. And the worst of the civil rights strife seemed to have abated.
I need to talk my little college into allowing me to teach a History of Rock and Roll!

Sorry, Christina, no geographic references. as long as it's loosely related to certs and waiting, that;s fine, and we are all gong crazy waiting so this is close enough! in fact, even songs that deal with DC testing are fine!

I need to talk my little college into allowing me to teach a History of Rock and Roll! i don't really know much about any of the songs or groups i listen to, i just like a variety, and this idea of playing different songs really seems to have tapped something. i have a friend who is a serious musician, he for example turned me on to Stone Roses, and another band from that era, the Replacements. but i am old enough to remember America when they first emerged. i grew up listening to Mary "the Burner" Turner, and "a little bit of heaven, 94.7 KMET." it is so nice to see people dealing with a difficult process so creatively and congenially, and am wowed by the level of knowledge and some the amazing stuff people have come up with...

And I like that tune by America to boot! I don't remember when it came out but I have an old cd of America's greatest hits and this song is on that cd. Memories of my freshman/sophomore years in college! I NEED YOU was out as a single in 1972 (my source says) and was, I believe, a part of the AMERICA album which was released in 1971, but rereleased in 1972 to include A HORSE WITH NO NAME which the original did not include. When HORSE rocketed up, they rereleased. I NEED YOU held down the B side of the LP. At least I think so. A magic time marked by magical music. my son shares his music with me, he's in his late teens, and some of that is good too. none of that I've found is location-related, but I search harder for something to share.

Yes, Johnny and Edgar Winter. And Joe Walsh was in several bands before he joined the Eagles in 1975 as the keyboard player and guitarist. His first album with the Eagles was Hotel California Don't think he played keyboards much on that album. Pretty much established as the Eagles guitar player by that time. Gosh that was a long time ago. Your husband was much younger then. Pixie

this is for those like me, old enough to remember this when originally aired. when i checked out the theme song, i seem to have blocked out how cheesy it was, so I offer this up instead, to encourage flexibility (or maybe, pliability, but in a good way) with the process:
this is while i search for a suitably cool yet modern song from my son's collection, so far I haven't encountered anything quite up to the quality of what everyone keeps offering up....

For those who are candidates for one of those northern cities (you know who you are). In the video, I believe they are digging out one of the earliest ODAR offices so they can hold hearings that day.

I am guessing the gumby song is not from your son's collection! no, the associational progression is lost in a fog now as to how I got to Gumby, but it did involve looking something up on Youtube, and Gumby popped up. after bragging on my son so much, I'm not finding that much modern that does not involve Homestuck, some sort of anime, or rap....typical parental myopia i guess.
