What are the options of getting from Washington, DC to Alexandria, VA, with baggage, very early in the morning? Id like to arrange it now. Thanks.

I am cheap, so I did Metro from foggy bottom to Alexandria with baggage. Had first interview slot in morning and got there no problems. Left early and grabbed some coffee when I arrived. There is a waiting area at interview, and I just left my bags in there with my fellow testers.

Taxi. If you are going from Foggy Bottom to Alexandria in the am, you have the advantage of being opposite rush hour traffic. The hotel will order you a cab the night before and/or help you hail one in the morning. I ordered a cab, but it was late so took the one sitting outside the hotel hoping for a customer. I left 90 minutes prior to my interview and got there an hour early. J

I've had very good luck with Uber, both in DC and in Alexandria and they cost much less than a cab.

I used Metro and wheeled my suitcase, but I stayed near OPM (that's where WD was) and I stayed in the SI site hotel. That said, I'm a transit buff and it was therapeutic. I think Uber or Lyft is a better choice for most people. Very relaxing, and early in the morning they are cheap--not much more than METRO--not as stinky as some cabs.

I stayed in Georgetown and was stuck with the earliest SI appointment time. I took an Uber and no problems whatsoever. In fact, I arrived quite early and killed time in the lobby of the hotel.

It may not have impressed the panel that their first interviewee was the person they'd seen in the lobby running the dice game.

I convinced my interviewers to join me in a quick game of flip cup. Hope that isn't frowned upon!!!

What are the options of getting from Washington, DC to Alexandria, VA, with baggage, very early in the morning? Id like to arrange it now. Thanks. I personally think the Metro is easiest-- no worries about traffic or accidents. The Embassy Suites is right across from the King Street Metro stop -- 2 stops past the airport. Uber may be fine as well- but then you have to contend with traffic. I wouldn't take a cab because it costs more to go across state lines from D.C. to VA. Good luck.

I'd do uber/lyft. DC Metro is a form of gambling, IMO.

Given that the thread dates from 2017, and also given some of the responses, the question appears to be in regard to Day 2 of in-person OPM testing.
You guys 'member when we did fun stuff like that? I 'member. Before the dark times. Before the Empire.
I took Metro, because if memory serves, the hotel was right near the station. I'm sure that's super-helpful in December 2020, but there it is!
I'd Uber/Lyft now, though.

Nostalgia for the OPM structured interview? .............naaaaah.
Looking at the thread "RIF's" it's unlikely we will need this knowledge.
we were so young then.....so impressionable........ now we are hardened veterans of the sound of .....crickets......the no response. Come to think of it, has about the same charm and warmth as the OPM interview, so no need to was nostalgic, we are living the 2017 experience, we few, we frustrated few.......
