Odar appears schizophrenic. Hiring aljs, but only a few... overtime....no overtime...lay offs, no lay offs (furloughs)... electronic files, no one to work them up...are we in the trenches the metaphor for the light brigade heading into the valley?

does the early out still apply to ALJ's? Insiders say it will not. I guess we shall see.

Half a docket, half a docket, Half a docket onward, All in the office of ODAR Worked the brave judges. "Forward, the new ALJs! "Charge for the Backlog!" he said: Into the office of ODAR To decide at least six hundred.
"Forward, the new ALJs!" Was there a man (or woman) dismay'd? Not tho' the new judge knew Someone had blunder'd: No experts called or cases pulled, Their's not to reason why, Their's but to hear and try: Into the office of ODAR To decide their six hundred.
Claimants to right of them, Claimants to left of them, Claimants in front of them; Lawyers volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with paper and word, Boldly they worked and well, Into the jaws of the backlog, Into the mouth of institutional hell To decide their six hundred.
When can their glory fade? O the great inroads they made! All the SSA wondered. Marvel the hearings they bade, Marvel the decisions they made, Deciding them each at least six hundred.

8-)OHA/ODAR does not care one hoot for it its "human resourses" or its field offices. It does not care for any feed back from those in the trenches telling them how they are screwing up it only wants cases going out the door. People have been screaming for years at those in their ivory towers, SUPPORT STAFF. Noone listens. They hire more ALJS, and come up with failed projects like HPI and e-dib , while the backlog builds. Who gets the blame? Guess. So good luck to you new ALJs. Someone is going to be looking over your shoulder. Astrue is now on the hunt for low producing ALJs, as he should, because some should be gotten rid of, but others have no cases to hear, because noone is there to prepare them for hearing. SSA has been trying for years to find a way to get rid of the APA and ALJs. They never have liked us.
