Has anyone in the first group heard any details about what hotel everyone is staying or any other specific information?

Nothing yet. Since I wasn't already a fed employee, I'll likely be one of the last to know. I did, however, get my government travel card today.

Ditto, nothing, but did get a letter from the Regional Chief ALJ stating training was in Falls Church. Also got the relo travel order with the magic number and saw an approval traveling through the office on the fixed expenses. Heard from the agency relo lady, but not the real estate relo people.

I received the same "briefing package" from Region IV RCALJ stating training was in Falls Church, VA. I called region today and they verified that it was a mistake. TRAINING IS STILL IN BALTIMORE - See you there!

Last I heard OCALJ was still negotiating for a happy home for the new classes, but then, I am also the last to hear....That said, here is what you want to know: the agency will book a block of suites (they always use a suites style hotel such as Embassy Suites or similar) sufficient to cover all faculty, students and whoever else needs a room. Hence, you need not worry about being shut out of the hotel by the fact that it is getting really close to the time the first class will report. You will receive an email telling you how to book your room (guaranteed with your shiny new government travel card) and how to reserve your flight if you are flying-far from Baltimore. So, just chill. My guess is that in two weeks or so the April class will have all their info and everyone can breath a sigh of relief.

I received this information today:
Residence Inn – Inner Harbor 17 Light Street, Baltimore, MD 21202
From the hotel fact sheet: We are a downtown hotel located in the Financial District. We are two blocks from the Inner Harbor, four blocks from major Routes (Rt. I95,I395,I295), and 9 miles from BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Here's a great tip I got from another ALJ: If you are not already a member of Marriott's reward program, sign up now. When you graduate from ALJ school you will be well on your way to a higher award level and have lots of lovely points to your name. Under government travel rules, you may keep these for your personal use. Go to Marriott.com to enroll.

I fully agree. When I was on details to Falls Church and we were put up at the Homewood Suites, a Hilton affiliate, we racked up reward points. I still have a Diamond VIP membership today.
