Unfortunately the link doesn't work. I did see some info on glassdoor, but wasn't sure how reliable it is.

If there's anyone on here who is/was a federal defender, I'd love to know anything you can share on what it's like to work there, quality of life, etc.

Why not ask some US attorneys--after all they oppose them--or ask federal defenders in a similarly sized city. The overall leadership will also make a difference as with any DA or PD's office.

Thanks, that's a good idea. One AUSA from my clerk days should still remember me. (I hope).

Yup above jobs are attorney decision writer slots- only up to GS 12. Good jobs - but not the tempting GS-15!

Weirdness of applications:
Applied for an AUSA that was fairly local. No referral until 1-2 minutes after I get a notice they hired for the position.
While it's nice of them to let me know someone else was hired, odd to get the referral almost the same minute.

I surmised it was that --so that USA staffing could say it went to DOJ. Wish they'd sent it sooner.

...Interesting fact: the announcement does not say that they REQUIRE applicants to have prior experience in employment law or EEOC-related issues. I wonder whether they ever hire anybody who does not, though. The learning curve would be steeper, but it could be done.
