Entry level GS 11 trademark attorney job USPTO posted on usajobs
You would start at step 1 unless you have significant trademark experience.
It is usually very competitive to get these jobs.
Historically hires have been able to advance to GS 14 after a few years. Other benefits include full time work at home from any location in the continental us. After at least a year, overtime and generous bonuses based on meeting productivity goals.

This vacancy is open to current employees of the federal Judiciary. My apologies--hit the wrong job. Haven't been able to find it but there's a high paying job that is open to the public (as one of them I usually focus on those that are open to all). If I run across the one I saw I'll post it.

Experience in Trans National crimes? Were you excited about the opportunity in Kwajalein? Heeere's DOJ in Bangladesh--relocation expenses and a salary that can buy luxury in Dacca. www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/478913600

I applied for the job in Kwajelein. If your spouse is going to leave make sure that it is not for some half-assed reason!

I believe the same would apply for the Bangladesh position, perhaps more so (other than the availability of the spouse and you receiving household help). Jobs for spouse may be a bit more plentiful for the spouse in Dacca depending on the spouse's background.
Missed the hurricanes? You could --and likely will--experience the monsoon!

Telework always sounds good, but practically speaking, for me at least, I think I'd lose my mind if I teleworked full-time. I'd probably be more productive, but I'd miss the interaction with my colleagues 😄

There is a je ne sais quoi about working in an office environment where you can actually interact and collaborate with others.

If I took the Bangladesh job and my spouse left me I would go with her, which defeats the entire purpose of the fight.

As for the trademark jobs the agency does have offices i Denver Detroit Dallas Silicon Valley and main office in Alexandria.
The benefit of telework is that after initial year you can live anywhere you choose and still have a job with grade potential to 14. At gs15 there are attorney positions working at the trademark board of appeals and of course there are a small number of trademark judges ( hired by agency not off register)
But if you want to come into an office every day you can. Being A full time or part time teleworker is something you have to elect.
Too big a pay cut for me to consider. However many private sector trademark attorneys make that leap.

Hope this inquiry is in the most proper thread...having not made this cert, and trying to patiently wait for the next, I can't help but wonder when that might happen!
Anyone in the same boat care to speculate (or better yet, have any actual intel)!?! That seems to be my best Plan B at the moment!!!

Anyone in the same boat care to speculate (or better yet, have any actual intel)!?! That seems to be my best Plan B at the moment!!! No worries - there will be more certs from SSA - they tend to have those every 4 to 6 months. Here the big factor will be the federal budget. Currently word is we will not have a gov't shut down - but we also will be operating on a 3 month CR (continuing resolution) as of October. So I am not sure if SSA will issue a new cert until they have a bit more funding - my WAG is that their next cert will be issued in the 5-6 month window. So since this cert they are hiring off of was issued 7/11.... my WAG is the next SSA cert will be December/January. There is always the possibility of a OMHA cert - but since they have not issued one in time to hire by the end of this Fiscal year - I do not think one will be issued any time soon - they too I think will wait until they know what is going on with the budget. I know that may see discouraging - but when SSA does issue a cert they usually have a large number of hires. The good news is you are on the Register. Read through old threads on hirings and you will see lost of folks getting hired many certs in on the timeline. This is a good thread that was started on Plan B - because as this board has said time and time again - this is a great job if you can get it - but keep your eyes wide open and seek out other opportunities because there are no guarantees and even if you are slated for one of these jobs by Fate - it may take you a few years to get the call.
