10 senior attorney positions in region 5 posting soon. I assume there will be other regions but that’s the only one I have knowledge of. A whole slew of senior attorney positions hit USAJOBS today. Open for about three weeks.

The senior attorney position is a great job. I think it's one of the best positions in SSA. I wish you all the best!

SSA posted 40 GS and SAA jobs around the country since mid-March. Is it crazy to apply for every single one? I can score the max amount of points on the KSAs, so I think I will get interviewed for each and every one.
Is that crazy? 40 interviews? Will that set some sort of record?
Yes, I am willing to move for a promotion, but I would only move if I don't get an offer from something closer to my current location.

Apply where you want, but don't assume you are getting 40 interviews. I know myself and others who applied to SAA postings earlier this year who didn't get interviews despite having perfect scores on the questionnaire. You apparently have a high DWPI and that will help, but there are known writers in each of these offices that will also have perfect scores.

The above are all internal to the agency. No fresh perspectives looking for a home need apply!

Good point about internal office hires. Also, people with longer resumes since law school seem to be getting a leg up if you get my drift.

I hate to burst that interview bubble, but NTEU had a heavy hand in the reopening of SAA positions. If I am not mistaken, NTEU sent an email out indicating that the offices will look to promote from with inside its own office if there is a valid candidate. This is really no different than how SAAs were hired in the past. In fact, I believe if there is a valid in-office candidate there is no requirement that interviews even be held even if multiple pple make the BQ list. Regardless, good luck.

Thanks Rightspeech!
Why it's important for members to post jobs--if you search USA jobs under "administrative law judge" this doesn't come up!

Use numbers to bring up the search term. Type in 0935 to bring administrative law judge select and enter, then do the same using 0930 for hearing officers. The AAJ position comes up in the 0930 search.

The AAJ position comes up in the 0930 search. I use three searches when looking for judicial positions in USAJobs. 1. A search using job code 0935. 2. A search using job code 0930. 3. Then a search using job code 0905, then using that filter, I type in 'judge' and hit enter.

Would using the search term “judge” bring up all of those?

Would using the search term “judge” bring up all of those? I've had a saved search using the terms administrative law judge for a while and it has picked up on all the posts mentioned above. I also have a saved search that uses all the 0900 codes that works.

I'd say there is basically a 0 percent chance that an office will hire a SAA from a different office. I've had a DWPI of greater than 100 for 13 years with non-stop awards and I wouldn't waste my time applying for SAA that aren't my office.

I know several people who have gotten SAA positions in other offices. Sorry it has not worked for you. I think it’s much more common to see in-office promotions, but not exclusively, so I would encourage people to apply if there is an opening where they would be interested in working. You never know. Good luck to everyone applying.
