A post on the aljimprovement board indicated that calls have started to go out for ALJ interviews (for folks on this new cert that hadn't interviewed previously).
Has anyone here gotten one of those calls? (or are they pulling our leg over there on the other board?).

I read the post on the "other" Board. Didn't the post say that people on the last Cert who did not get an ALJ slot are receiving calls for interviews? If so, the information in the post is contrary to what has been stated on this Board, i.e., that candidates on the last Cert will not have to interview again. . . I think someone is being a Troll. . .

Here's what was in the form letter I received concerning the new cert (emphasis added).
"Since you have recently been considered, you only need to return the Geographic Availability List (GAL) to indicate your interest in the locations where we are currently recruiting and you will be contacted to schedule an interview only if you were not previously interviewed."

My original point - - Has anyone who was not previously interviewed received a call scheduling interviews for this certificate?

TestTaker: Read the post on the other Board again. It indicates that calls have begun to schedule interviews for candidates on the previous Cert who were not hired. But, we know for certain that SSA is not going to reinterview candidates who were on the previous Cert. As I said in my previous post, I think that the poster on the "other" Board is a Troll who wants to incite anxiety on this beautiful Friday!
I reread some of the posts regarding the process for the last Cert. Calls to schedule interviews seemed to occur after the SSA deadline for the return of the GAL. Today is the deadline to return the GAL (and, for some candidates, other forms) for this Cert. No one on this Board has responded with a "yes" to your original post (including me, a "newbie" on this Cert). It is now past 4 p.m. in Falls Church. I do not think that anyone will get a call today to schedule the interview. I predict that phones will be ringing on Monday, though!

I don't know when they are going to start calling, but I do know that interviews will be scheduled for Wednesday through Friday, May 14-16.

I got a message today from ODAR. They want to see me on 4/14 or 4/15 in Falls Church.
How's that for a first post?

I was not on the Cert the last time (very limited GAL). In fact, I am on this Cert for just one city. . . The call was consistent with previous, confirmed information that Falls Church is not going to interview anyone on the previous Cert. So, JH, at ease!!!!! With what you have been through lately, you do not need any additional, unnecessary stress!!!!!

Don't forget that the nearest Metro stop is some distance away. If you go to King Street there is a bus and normally a fair number of taxis so it isn't too bad. Even with rush hour, most will be "counter commuting" but leave plenty of time. This is VERY competitive and being late for the interview would be really bad.
Good luck to all! ;D

If somone cannot get a hotel, don't panic. I flew in and out the same day in January from the middle of the country. No weather delays. No luggage and no hotel to worry over. If someone from the middle of the country to the East is flying out of an area that is unlikely to have severe weather, I would suggest that an afternoon interview and a one day trip is very workable. I actually got better sleep the night before in my own bed than I would have in a hotel.
The trip from Reagan/Nat'l Airport to the Crystal Palace for the interview took about 15-20 minutes at noon on a weekday. No worries. I arrived ridiculously early, but they were able to start my interview early also. Just make sure that the cabbie pulls into the complex (they will let him out of the gated area) and stops at the barriers in front of the Skyline Tower. Some people got let off across the complex on my interview day near building 5 or something. It was an unpleasant hike in the brisk, icy wind and light snow.

Just ask for Skyline One. I don't think that cold weather or snow will be a problem this time--lol

No, no, no! Do NOT ask for Skyline One. That is a separate building. You want Skyline Tower. (It's often referred to as "One Skyline Tower," hence the confusion.) You can't miss it. It's the only "skyscraper" in the Skyline Complex.
BTW, you don't have to have your cabbie go in the gated parking. He can drive right up to the concrete barriers in front of the building and turn around in the handicapped parking spaces.
Get there early and go up to the second floor and relax with a cup of coffee or soda in the cafeteria (poor excuse for one, but the food is actually not bad). Bathrooms are locked to visitors, though, FYI.

Interviewees: Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!!!! Good luck this week - just be yourself; you wouldn't have gotten this far being anything else, you know. There is no sense in attempting a change now (because it would not likely be for the better.) Again, good luck in your interviews and, if you feel like it, post how you feel it went - (there are those on the Boards who crave any news, however unrelated to them it might be.) It's gonna be a loooooooong month.

There are two nearby hotels across the street. A Homewood Suites and a Hampton Inn. You can see the Skyline Office tower from either location and it is a ten minute walk. Those who wish to walk it.
Sidewalks are a bit spotty though.
