Praise God! Finally a real chance to overturn Roe v Wade and the even more ridiculous Obergefell v Hodges decision!
I’m actually hoping for Circuit Judge Amy Coney Barrett. She is the Catholic Who was opposed by some Democrats because the Catholic “dogma lives loudly within you.” She’s only in her 40’s so she could serve for 40 more years Plus a few Dems voted for Barrett so they’d look foolish voting no now.

As one of my favorite podcast hosts would say: VERY COOL TIMES WE LIVE IN.
We have a little situational bourbon at home, but I fear it's not enough. Is there a level above situational bourbon? Existential bourbon? I think that's what I need.

I continue to be amazed by the number of conservatives interested in working for the welfare office

Associate Justice Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III. He knows better than to recuse again.

That's an interesting bet. Could also be an easy out for Scott Pruit

Not going to be Lee, he also has a history of disloyalty. I’d be surprised if he picked a woman, but then again I get surprised daily anymore.

Maybe we can get Griswold overturned too!!!!! Then I can covert my hobby of collecting contraceptive devices into a lucrative black market trade! Also, what’s the obsession with whether Democrats go along? The Rs have the votes. Flake, McCain, etc. won’t stop the nomination. You know they won’t. Also it is really inconsistent to vote for someone to USDC/court of appeals and not the USSC? I don’t necessarily think it is. Anyway, we’ll see.

True but it makes the process easier, and could be used politically to embarrass those Dems up for election in 2018 in states that the Honorable Donald Trump won by 30 or so points.

Maybe we should start a pool. Frankly I would be surprised if an actual current or former judge were nominated. Gonna pick him first before someone else does: Thomas Hardiman. Ok you got him, but per Wikipedia he married into a prominent democratic family, did a student exchange to Mexico, and volunteered at Legal Aid to help migrants. In today’s world that translates to “he helped Ms-13 infiltrate the border so they could rape and kill children.” That’s a lot of baggage.

True but it makes the process easier, and could be used politically to embarrass those Dems up for election in 2018 in states that the Honorable Donald Trump won by 30 or so points. Easier? They could have the confirmation tomorrow and it would be done by noon. It’s already as easy as it gets. And somehow I doubt a nuance like “hey this guy voted to confirm this person to the court of appeals but not the Supreme Court” is likely to be notable enough to sway anyone’s opinion on way or the other, given current events, especially in +30 districts.

Sadly I had similar thoughts about how his admirable volunteer work will be translated by others. I see it as a plus but I’m sure many involved in the decision making process will not.

I continue to be amazed by the number of conservatives interested in working for the welfare office Why? It's a government position that will exist whether or not you apply. Your taxes are already funding both the benefits and the ALJ structure. Why forego the job opportunity? Also, it's a chance to help make sure the law is correctly administered. That's like when people called Ayn Rand a hypocrite for taking social security. She correctly replied that she was not the Queen and couldn't just change the system at will, her FICA had been taken from her by force, and there was no reason to be a sucker and not get back some fraction of it if she could.
