Someone indicated in a previous post that SSA has delayed offers for this "penultimate" Certificate in order to complete transfers in accordance with the CBA. Does anyone have firm information where those transfers occurred/are occurring, besides the NHC in NM?

OCALJ maintains the "ALJ Reassignment Register". An ALJ submits a request for reassignment to another specific city. An ALJ may have multiple requests. The Register includes a Request/Declination Date, ALJ Appointment Date, Service Comp Date, and other information. The register had approximately 125 requests back in March.
I have no information regarding how many of the transfer requests were granted this time; what locations judges transferred from, or where they went. That information is available but at echelons above me.

Does anyone have firm information where those transfers occurred/are occurring, besides the NHC in NM? Transfers to the NHC are not part of the ALJ register required by collective bargaining. The agency decided these would all be management judges for "important" reasons it says we all should trust. Hence those are managment not bargaining unit positions. There were some transfers about 90 days ago, at least offered transfers, to several places. I think this was in anticipation of the last hire of ALJ's this year.

I am told there has also been a retirement in Dallas Downtown, effective 5/31.

Hehehe. Hadn't heard of any retirements up there. Gotta be hardy stock to withstand the winters, I guess.

I am told there has also been a retirement in Dallas Downtown, effective 5/31. There were two retirements effective in May 2008, but the ALJs filed their papers well in advance. One of them went on terminal leave about a month early and the other worked through May. For planning purposes the agency already knew that they had 2 spots due to May retirements at that office prior to the April certificate. There was also an ALJ who retired a couple of years ago who apparently was not replaced by an active ALJ. Dallas DT was on the April cert and they received one transfer of an ALJ in May. Now the big question is whether that transfer leaves one spot for a new hire or two. I suppose we won't know the answer until offers are accepted.
