What are the most wanted locations?
First place. Portland OR, with 18 votes !!
Second place, with 16 votes each. Eugene OR, Charlotte NC, Raleigh NC, Albuquerque NM
Third place, with 15 votes each. Hartford CT, Jacksonville FL, Memphis TN, Nashville TN, Dallas TX
I understand why Oregon did so well. But Dallas TX ??!?!? (No offense intended)

Dallas rocks! Although I prefer Fort Worth. Slower pace, more traditionally "Texan."

shush Happy! Dallas is horrible. Stay away. Far, far away!
Stay where there is state income tax, gasoline already over $4 per gallon, no wide opens sunny skies for 300+ days per year, Mcmansions for the average cost of a home in many other parts of the country, lots of cultural events, friendly people. . . Dallas is baaad. No one wants to be there!

I agree with you, Nonamouse. Dallas is BAD, BAD BAD!!! That's why I am quietly hoping that someone in Dallas likes my resume. (My latest GAL included Dallas, Atlanta, New Orleans, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Jackson).

Despite the humid conditions in Texas, which I understand can be quite miserable in the summer, I would welcome an offer to move to Dallas as well. In addition to the reasons provided by the posters in the previous postings, we have very good friends who live in Dallas. My daugther is visiting with them and their daughter for 3 weeks in July. However, I imagine most of us will be pleased to receive an offer to move to any of our selected locations.

Actually, Dallas and Ft. Worth are not really humid once it heats up when compared to a lot of other cities. The rains normally stop well before the summer blast furnace goes to full power. I think that central Missouri has more humidity with its summer heat than Dallas given all of the water in that area. Now Houston is HUMID and hot, also New Orleans and other points South.

Actually, it gets so hot in Dallas in August that the humidity burns off by 10 a.m. Then you just bake.
Still, it's a rockin' place. Great food. Great people. Cool museums. Awesome music to be found in Deep Ellum and fun stuff to do in the West End.

I don't really want to be single and in evansville, but I'll make it work. Gee, maybe we can transform this board into a version of match.com . . . but the beard's gotta go, Boley!

Boley: drive out into the farm country around Evansville. When you see a girl walking behind a plow, stop, roll down the window and ask her if she can tell you which way Evansville is. If she points, thank her and drive on. If she lifts the plow and uses it to point the direction, you have found your one true love.

OK, OK, I withdraw my comment about Dallas. Just thought it might be fun to talk about something other than the unfortunate delay. Plus, I could not quite figure out how to make a non offensive "40th anniversary celebration of the Summer of Love" joke about San Francisco...

Well, for those of you who have never lived in the Northwet, they have a local expression for sunshine. It goes like this: Arrrrgggh, it burns, it burns! ;D

In and around Atlanta, the authorities recommend .45 automatics with ball ammunition as the most effective mosquito repellent. Smaller calibers do not have sufficient stopping power. Same holds true for soft-nose bullets. Am I right, Witz?

Nonamouse, you are right! I was born and raised in New Orleans. So, I am not afraid of a lotta heat, humidity, and man-sized mosquitos. However, I'd rather deal with it all in Dallas! I love and miss my home. However, I am not ready to return just yet! (Currently living in Virginia, working in DC, and I'm sick of the commute and the outrageous cost of living here.)
