Anyone want to opine when offers re: expanded cert slots will be made? My guess is 7/11, since I have seen no evidence that those on the expanded cert had not previously been interviewed (and hence, pushing it back several weeks to take care of that chore). I know of one HOCALJ who did interviews in FC last Friday.

Sorry, I guess it's the PM who mentioned 2 cities being knocked out. What say u PM? Although I am not an ODAR insider, I am friendly with the HODs and HOCALJs where I practice as a Social Security rep, and when I mentioned that I was in the exapnded cert, but had not heard about whether their slots were filled, one of them confirmed to me that names had been given to both offices for the single judge each had coming. Thus, I know my two top choices are full from the April list. FYI I had six cities on my June 16 letter, five of which were on the last cert, too. The two that are at the top of my list are done for me. Two others have at least one appointment per ALJDiscussion's list (although I don't know if that means they are full, since there could be more than one judge in some offices). Thus, at best I am likely to have two cities left (because probably one of the other ones is filled by someone off this board, if they aren't both filled). In any case, if noone gets added to any of my cities from the expanded cert, I will lean much more towards the theory that ODAR had people they wanted to place, and just needed warm bodies for the turn-downs; as opposed to the theory I currently favor, which is they simply decided it would be efficient to hire more judges now.

Good grief. I cannot believe people are "giving up" after less than one year on the register. There are people who got hired from the previous register after waiting for more than five years. Just live your life without making this a central focus and check in periodically for info. There are plenty of people who would have been happy to make the register with any score as they got picked off initially for a technicality or later by not being invited to test. Some folks understandably are having trouble dealing with all of this. There is a HUGE difference being in the private vs. public sector in terms of practical, logistical, financial and metaphysical considerations. I have always felt like Alice looking in on all of this...so everyone has their threshold. We all have different stories. I apologize if I sounded critical or harsh. I think that I'm just astounded that anyone would think of pulling out after investing this much into the process. I was not thinking about how this could be for someone who never worked for any government. I fully expected this process to be a marathon rather than a sprint, so I feel that it was just a random and unexpected blessing that any of us got hired this quickly. I certainly had my "agony of defeat" time after the March offers went out. I personally want everyone here who made the register to stick it out without cutting themselves off from the support and info available to them. I feel like we all bought lottery tickets for multiple drawings, so we have nothing to lose by setting it aside and possibly cashing it in on some future date. Of course, if this is just too much stress or whatever for someone, then I support them in choosing another path. I hope that everyone here will be blessed in the future with whatever path they take and build a well-rounded and balanced life for themselves.

[Anyone want to opine when offers re: expanded cert slots will be made? ]
My bet is Monday, July 7. That is 4 weeks from the report date of August 4 listed on the June 16 letter.
The Monday, June 23 offers were made 4 weeks from the report date of July 21 in the April Cert letters.
Sure wish we knew what cities are in the hiring. I asked Miss Susan B via email and she said her office did not know such information.

I assume e-mails would have gone out first thing this morning if they were going out today. The problem is, the expanded cert might have been only another 5-8 slots, couldn't it? How many June letters did we end up thinking were issued? Anyway, hopefully we'll hear sometime this week.

<<I liked this theory. Has anyone heard anything?>>
Not a word. So much for my prediction. Ya think we'll have to wait until Friday, July 11?

No word here. With the April cert non selectees spilling over to the expanded cert, I fear the expanded cert folks (of which I am one) may be nothing more than mathmatical filler.

Okay, apparently my last posting created a bit of a fervor among the ranks. Rather than leave my actions to be misinterpreted by a few, I though it best to post yet one more time. Yes, I did delete my account PM, but not because I am a sore loser although I do admit I have been disappointed with the results thus far. But then who of us hasn't been disappointed ? I do question, however, how my action could be interpreted as "burning bridges". I thought this forum was voluntary? And if it is cause for me to be denied an offer, well, I would like to hear more on that. I thought the only variables under consideration were my application, test score, and interviews. Nonamouse, I feel for those who have been on the candidate list for 5 years and wish them the best. I wish everyone the best and thought I had made that clear. I don't have any hard feelings about the outcome. I was happy to have made it this far. As I stated in an earlier posting, you give it your best shot and then accept the outcome. If I get an e-mail, great, and if not okay, I can live with that too. For now, I have a family to take care of and a law practice to manage. Every day I come into my office, I have to have the eye of the tiger and be focused on the present rather than the future. My family depends on it. For the last year, I have had one foot in and one foot out. I can't afford to do that anymore. So I appreciate all the info and the camaraderie and all, but I simply can no longer afford to have my focus distracted with this forum. I suppose we would all do ourselves good to leave this forum alone and not have any expectations. After all, I usually don't know what is rumor, fact or fiction. As I stated in my last post, good luck to all. I suppose I will check the forum for a few more days to see how many people still want to dump and then I'll give it a rest for real.

I believe I used the phrase "burning bridges," and it was a poor choice of words. Sorry.
I meant to encapsulate the idea that you might not want to throw away the history of your existence and posts (which I guess you did). I guess I meant it more like something that can't be undone - you can always not sign in; but when you delete all your posts, everyone loses them, as do you. It seemed to me an unnecessary step; although I can understand if the temptation to log in would just be too much...
In any event, I can't see any way that this forum has an effect on selections. Sorry for the strange and incorrect implication in my wording.
And good luck to you.
