I would rather live in Chicago, even if it had winter 10 months of the year than live in Florida and put up with this. These photographs came from the newspaper article linked to by acttwo. And this thing broke in the house in the dead of the night. Just looking at these photos makes my skin crawl. Pixie

Is it sad Pixie was the first person I thought of when I ran across this story in my news feed earlier? ActTwo, maybe great minds just think a like

I hate to criticize God, because generally he does such a good job, but I'm almost positive that it was an oversight that the dinosaurs got wiped out yet somehow these survived.

Yes, they never should have survived. But even if they had been wiped out Florida still has snakes, big snakes, spiders and sharks, horrid big sharks. The whole State is just on edge waiting to take a bite out of me if I ever return. And to think I used to sail and scuba dive there. How could I have been so stupid? Pixie

At least sharks mostly stay in the water.

And that is exactly why I don't go in the water—anywhere. The closest I get to the water is in my shower. Pixie

In the United States, even considering only people who go to beaches, a person's chance of getting attacked by a shark is 1 in 11.5 million, and a person's chance of getting killed by a shark is less than 1 in 264.1 million.
I am guessing the size of the drain in your shower reduces that chance exponentially.

But Florida is the shark bite capital of the world. Chances there are much higher. Especially in Volusia County (Daytona Beach). Don't go there.
“Volusia County just has the most surfers in Florida and the most people in the water, so they keep topping the chart for shark attacks,” Lindsay French, supervisor of the University of Florida’s International Shark Attack File, told the paper last year.

Maybe people from that county just taste better? Extra Crispy, perhaps? Imagine if New Jersey was closer to the equator...

Pixie is right. Alligators 🐊 in the pantry and pythons slithering around Florida. Egads!

At least sharks mostly stay in the water. Sharks in the snow

Why oh why did I watch that? At least all of the snow is off the ground and won't be back until October. Four months of peace and then I will start thinking of those horrible trailers when the snow covers the ground once again.
If you are afraid of sharks, don't watch this. It is good nightmare material. Pixie

Snow sharks and avalanche sharks? What’s next, Sharkicane? Sharknado? Sharkaritaville? It’s a Wonderful Shark?
I’ve seen trails where small rodents have burrowed through snow, and it would be super impressive to see the paths left behind by sharks swimming through snow. Those killers are fast!
