Edit: I'm deferring to ALJDiscussion and will be sending him the info I have already received, so no need to send again, guys.

Could you folks possibly name the cities you're going to? I would prefer to have ALJDiscussion or Pixie take PMs and run a separate thread like last time. I wouldn't want my new office to have preconceived notions of me based upon my posts here. If any selectees wish, pm me your offer and location and I'll start a thread showing the locations that have been filled without the names. Thanks.

No offer for me either, yet I shed no tears. I hold my head high, and I will continue to serve the people of the State of California with great pride. I am very pleased I made it as far as I did, in such a highly competitive process. Besides, it is always useful to dust off those interviewing skills! You never know what is around the corner, or when the masts and sails of rescue may emerge from the fog. (Ever the optimist, I know.) Congratulations to all the new ALJs- you all have a lot to be proud of.

Please allow me to extend my heartiest congratulations, and welcome to those selected as "baby ALJs." Contrary to what others have posted, while you can and probably will be extremely frustrated at times, it's hard to imagine a better job (unless you don't like having a low profile, very reasonable work hours, and very generous compensation!).
For those who weren't selected (yet), I say in all sincerity that the ALJ selection process is extremely suspect, comparable only to the admission process at highly selective colleges. Moreover, all signs point to more judges being hired in the next year or two, as Congress continues to inveigh against the backlog, so hang in there!

I am pleased to report that I received an offer. For those who didn't, I know the waves of emotion you feel, but stay positive toward the future. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Although not a "regular" , I am happy to report that I got an offer- I was depressed all day after reading about the offers in- I had always received my e-mails to the home e-mail- it was not until this evening that I went onto my office e-mail and saw that I had an e-mail from about 11 something this AM! So I know first hand, the emotions from both sides- congratulations to my future colleagues and dont despair to those still waiting- hopefully there will be another big hire in early fy 2009-

I too was lucky enough to get an offer today which is fairly close to my home and I will definitely accept. I too would urge anyone who seriously wants this job to keep trying. It is obvious that this board is filled with exceptional talent and hope we can all be colleagues in the future.

I did get an offer which I accepted.
For those still waiting, don't give up hope. More positions will have to be filled in the near future just to keep up with attrition with the first Boomers retiring and ALJs who don't like electronic files bailing out too.

I just called the main personnel number 703-605-8440 and spoke to Susan who said that all of the offers have NOT gone out. I asked her if April people are still in the mix and she said YES.

Does that mean alive for cities they have on the expanded cert?

I assume so. It appears that preliminary offers have gone out, maybe for all locations, maybe not. Maybe this time they are trying to make sure they can make back-up offers for rejections if they get any and also for new openings that were pursuant to the expanded cert. I know only enough about the process to be dangerous and a hopeful optimist, so if you have a question that could clarify it, call and ask and let the board know. I've called the office before but never got to actually speak to anyone.
