ODAR employees received notice from OCALJ re OPM press release. US OPM announced it will re-open the ALJ examination to refresh the list of eligible candidates in the near future. It will be announced at www.usajobs.gov. Near future is not defined. See Odarite posting of text on rumors thread.

So, if the exam is announced on July 11, does anyone know exactly when those are the register can change their geographic availability?

Two questions. I want to confirm that if I received my score on 10/30/07, I cannot reapply and try and get a better score if opm opens the exam in July. Secondly, a co-worker appealed opm's determination that she did not meet the qualifications last year. In April 2008, she was advised that her appeal was sucessful. OPM did not contact her again to take the written test and interview. Should she just send in an application again when the exam is reopened? Thanks.

I'm not sure about the one year issue. "Should she?" No one knows that except her. "Can she"? Apparently she can since she is not on the register.

Read your copy of the announcement and application instructions from OPM from May 2007 again. It directly addresses the one year situation. I had to read mine again after someone else mentioned it because quite frankly that part was not my focus as I slogged through the application in record time last year.

"You received an "ineligible" rating or did not score among the highest group of AR scores from all applicants. "
Finally there's something good about getting a ZERO score!

Hi Zero, good luck to you on the re-application. And good luck to all those, like me, who failed to give the date on which they were first licensed. Let's get it right this time, Gang.

This may sound like overkill, but I was soooo paranoid about the application that I did a few steps to avoid leaving anything off. I printed it out more than once before hitting "submit." I highlighted all needed items on the instructions. I marked on my printed copy to ensure that I had done each of the highlighted items. I waited until I slept and then did it again the next day with a fresh printed copy. Paranoid perhaps, but I didn't leave anything off.

Okay, I'm a little slow -- hence my low score...so if I received my NOR on 10/31/07--I can't reapply until 10/31/08?

I am confused. I know that I cannot "retest" until the one year has passed, but does that mean I can't reapply? I ask because if the 30-60 day time rumor is true, OPM probably cannot start the written demonstration or "test" until after October 31.

You sound like an attorney !
But here's why you cannot retake the exam: The application is the first part of the exam. Don't forget that, because many people never did understand that last year.

Nonamouse, you said: "I waited until I slept and then did it again the next day with a fresh printed copy. Paranoid perhaps, but I didn't leave anything off." Thanks for the advice. I went over it and over it, and still can't believe I made this mistake. But I won't next time. Tricia
