I just received word from another board member that the initial announcement did not initially contain the GS-14 time-in-grade requirement . . . . I downloaded a PDF file of the announcement at 20:30, E.D.T. on Wednesday, 20 May 2020. By that time, one day after the announcement was posted, the GS-14 language did indeed appear, in the Qualifications section, page 3.

Note that while the wording is almost identical to the announcement that closed last week, this one deals with civil remedies.
Anyone with experience working those cases?
From the notice, this position seems to be more hearings oriented.

Is anyone who received the referral letters a current Fed below the GS-14 level? Like all things associated with federal hiring, it is sufficiently vague, but I had been led to believe on vacancies open to the public, time-in-grade was not an issue. However, I received a "time in grade" denial letter, as did a colleague of mine. I received it. Currently lower than GS14, but extensive litigation experience prior to SSA. So they obviously read the old resume.

Honestly more disappointed they included the GS14 bit in the ALJ vacancy as while AAJ slots more commonly had a time in grade requirement (at least at SSA), ALJs did not. Hopefully this isn't a trend picked up by SSA or OMHA.

I havent with HHS and their Civil Monetary Penalty program, but I have had some experience with SSA's and found the work to be pretty interesting. www.hhs.gov/about/agencies/dab/different-appeals-at-dab/appeals-to-alj/index.html

Good morning! As a data point...a friend advised that she received an email, on Tuesday, requesting a writing sample for the position that closed on May 29th. Good luck everyone!

I applied for the DAB ALJ position. I was looking at the bios of the judges, and most have previous ALJ experience (not unexpected as I don't think they would usually hire from the old Register). Some of those folks have really been there a long time, it seems (maybe this announcement is in contemplation of retirements). Work looks interesting. My gig now is civil penalty heavy, although not with HHS. I used to rep HHS for DOJ, though. The folks I know there in OGC and in one of their program offices really seem to like it (never dealt with the DAB). Guess we'll see how this goes. I applied for the AAJ position when it was open last year and didn't move forward.

FYI - this is regarding the administrative law judge posting that closed on June 11, 2020, for DHHS. I never received an email but when I went to check my application on USA jobs there’s a letter indicating that my application was found qualified and was referred to the Executive Resources Board (ERB) for further consideration.

I got an email from USAJOBS saying the same thing. It just means the application cleared OPM. A necessary step, of course, but now we wait to see if there's a test invite on the horizon.

Bad news is that I just got an email telling me I was not selected. Good news is that I had completely forgotten about applying to this position.

"AA-0930-00; An Executive Resources Board convened to review your qualifications, and you were rated among the “Middle” group of candidates for this position. However, only the best qualified candidates from the Top and Non-Competitive Groups were referred to the selecting official for consideration."
Got this from the most recent posting, with an email telling me to FOAD. I do appreciate the follow-up, though.
