Anyone ever worked for gsa or know someone who has? If so, positive, negative, or mixed experience, and why?
Thanks, Chris

bestplacestowork.org/rankings/detail/GS0075% FEVS score vs SSA 59%. I will try to ask around. The people I have knew moved up and seemed to like working there from my brief encounters with them. They are building managers and I think GS13+. They had interesting jobs from the little bit I saw. They dealt with contractors, leases, security, etc. It seemed like a nice variety of work. I know two people who applied at GSA, because they heard good things about it. Both are feds with different agencies and knew people who wprked at GSA. One of them use to work at SSA and he says his current agency is better than SSA. Also one of his coworkers who also once worked at SSA says the same thing. Granted, they are non-attorneys. IMO, it seems like a good place. Fyi, SSA is really one of the worst places to work in feds. Everyone I know who has left for other agencies says their new agency is way better than SSA, except one person. The one exception was the VA.

I should also add there are quite a few quasi legal type jobs at GSA. Lots of J.D.s work there in contracting type jobs.
People are much happier there. Better quality of life.

I've known some GSA attorneys who didn't like the legal work, so approach cautiously. Since GSA is landlord (or prime tenant) to other fed agencies, they often get themselves the best space, BUT, GSA was in the vanguard of the downsize/rightsize/mini-cubicle/shared conference room/job-sharing movement in the Obama years, so for social distancing and privacy reasons, I would have a look at a GSA office before I accepted an offer. It's location, location, location.
