From the announcement:
Travel Required
50% or less - Subject to frequent travel throughout the US and its territories.

It was the "or less" I was wondering about.
That and whether it's travel somewhere for a week, then in the office the next, or are you on a plane 2-3x a week.

Here is a list of the 15 FMSHRC ALJs as of about 2-1/2 years ago. www.fmshrc.gov/about/news/commission-ratification-notice (Apr. 3, 2018). Since you are already an ALJ, perhaps you could reach out to one or more of them and let us know? (Travel is not an issue for me. The more, the better.) |

The new rules make it much easier to promote insiders. May become hard for ALJs to transfer to other agencies.
