ALJ's are authorized to receive travel comp for travel to and from training. Have your office timekeeper e-mail address so you can send the info in a timely manner. Keep track of the reasonable amount of time to depart for airport and time of arrival at airport/hotel. The same holds true on return. When you drive in whole or in part, I believe the rules might be different. Check with your timekeeper or the personnel assigned by OCALJ at the training, usually Terry or Kim.
Also, most timekeeprs would prefer to have the info before end of the pay period involved, so the Sunday reporting date would have pay period ending 2 Saturdays from then. Keep your timekeeper happy--send info along that Monday or Tuesday of the first week of class.
Travel comp has been around for only a few years now, so not everyone is aware of the parameters. A number of people in the current class were not aware until this week when some of us were talking at breakfast about it.

Something to keep in mind about travel comp is it never expires. Credit hours can not exceed 24 hours. If they do, and you don't use some, anything over 24 hours will be taken away. If you have a choice, use the credit hours before you use travel comp time. You also only get travel comp for the actual hours you are traveling. Once you reach your hotel or other quarters at you destination, the travel comp time stops accruing.

Travel comp does expire, I think, after one year, and it's running balance, e.g., you earn it this pay period and you must use it by this pay period next year, what you earn next pay period expires in a year from that pay period, etc. However, there's no limit on how much you can accrue and maintain (just like regular comp that ALJs can't earn).
