Have been wondering if a lot of open positions are being put on the back burner pending resolution of the debt limit and/or budgets. Its pretty hard to schedule interviews when you don't know if you are going to be in the office working or on shutdown.

Received from a member:
As someone recently inquired, I thought I would pass along info for other board members - if you could be so kind as to share-
I applied in early July. End of August was notified I had been selected for an interview. Had interview 1st Week in Sept. 2nd week they contacted me and asked for references and a copy of my most recent SF 50 and indicated they wanted a quick reply so they could do something before the end of the FY. 3rd week Sept they contacted one of my references. all quiet since then.

I'm applying. If they let me lateral as a 12 step whatever, I'd accept the position. I get the risk of possibly getting the axe when things slow down. But, I'm fairly confident that I can survive it by doing stellar work, same way I managed that at SSA.
Here's another concern though. SSA is larger and even though we cap DWs at 12, there are a lot more GS, QR, and SA positions in existence, even if not available at the moment. How does that compare to HHS?

I haven't heard any updates on hiring for this job posting. But I wish you all the best of luck with your applications.

pikachu, do u happen to know if the 60 attorney figure are all more of these "temporary 3y" positions to address the backlog, or if some of them are more specilized or in other roles. Any permanent positions?

I only shared the information that was issued to everyone in a mass email. For additional information, I would recommend reaching out to the point of contact indicated in the job posting. Best Regards.

Any updates on this. I interviewed in mid-December. I hope any movement would happen around January because of the holiday. Or have I already been ghosted?

bro it will be at least a month or two before they call you if they give you an offer, federal government doesn't move that fast, and after that would be a months long background check phase, generally speaking

I didn't know it was that slow after the interview. Thanks for the info. I'm just concerned because the earlier candidate, in this thread, got asked for references pretty soon after the interview.

hate when people make blanket statements about the federal government. Its way to big of an organization to make any blanket statements, each agency/subagency is its own world. I received a conditional offer 48 hours after my job interview at SSA.

and the magic that you think got you that zippy offer? 48 hours seems a record from what I've read here, over the years.
Congratulations!

Had interview in Sept. received tentative offer 1st week of October, pending background checks. Took 2 months for HHS to start checks - holidays. Started checks last week December. Just completed and received start date last week. Will start in Feb. Start to end, from application, will have taken roughly 7 months.

Interesting sidenote: under the careeers at the DAB, where the above listing still remains there is no mention of the current opening for Board member of the DAB! Here we are sweatin' about being attorneys when we could go for the brass ring! Truly a w.t.f. moment (that's what's the foundation)(you weren't thinking......... were you?) www.usajobs.gov/job/629253800
