Do you think they'd hire someone with no experience in health care or admin law, but 8+ years of state litigation including appellate litigation? or like a state public defender or asst city attorney with 8+yrs? Not sure what is considered gs14 equivalent if you're not a supervisor. If you want it, apply for it. If they get enough people with ad law experience they may not be as dazzled by appellate lit experience but who knows. The bigger concern for many may be that raised above about whether this is just a 1-3 year affair, where you are abandoned with an "it's been real" before the wedding. (Delicacy prohibits the writer from further analogies along this primrose path). I cannot agree more with this advice. I was once told to apply for any promotion I was interested in, agencies tend to find ways to select people they want. If past work experience qualifies as GS-14 work, one should make it clear on his or her resume. Does HR check every resume to see if school is ABA or not? Idk. Don’t eliminate yourself from a job you like because you didn’t apply.

The ABA publishes a list of approved schools in alphabetical order: www.americanbar.org/groups/legal_education/resources/aba_approved_law_schools/in_alphabetical_order/ Pixie

They are sending first sift notices (talk about faint praise)--but they tell you the next steps.
"Your application was found minimally qualified and was referred to an executive rating panel for further consideration.
If you are ranked among the group of highly qualified candidates, you will be referred to the Executive Review Board, interview panel, and/or selecting official. "
The application mentioned the possibility of a proctored writing exam. As an exam was required for the Medicare ALJ process, i'd be surprised if one wasn't required for this position. Anyone know?
Good luck to all who applied!

I've also received a flattering “minimally qualified” notice. Does anyone have any idea of when we expect to find out who makes it to the next round? Thanks!

From a board member:
"Hi Pixie,
Please post the following message in the “Administrative Appeals Judge - openings” thread:
HHS has solicited writing samples from some applicants.
Thanks!"

For what it's worth the FOADs for this position are going out.
All the best to those who still wait. There may be hope for you!
