I suppose I should finally say this, but my last day before retiring is March 31st. With my retirement my office will have dropped from 12 judges pre-COVID to 7 now. It is hard to believe that my last 2 years will have been worked at home.

Congrats :-) I wonder if you have any reflections to offer. Did you enjoy it? How did you like transitioning from advocacy to judging? Did you burn out/how did you power through burn out? How did the agency component change for better or worse? Any regrets, anything you wish you knew when you were hired that you know now; anything you wish you knew at year 3 that you know now?
A celebratory debrief is in order.

Congratulations. Getting to where you are ready and able to hang it up at the same time is an accomplishment by itself, in addition to all the service provided over the years. Congratulations.

For those who are looking to retire before age 62 (including myself), you may want to see if you qualify for the FERS Supplemental Annuity. It applies starting at age 57 if you have 30 years of creditable service. It basically bridges the gap until you get social security at age 62.

Congratulations! Retirement is very nice…provided you keep yourself reasonably busy. Have fun!

A celebratory debrief is in order. Overall,I enjoyed the experience. It was quite stressful at first, but once I got the swing of it, I enjoyed it. I found that getting 500 was fairly doable, but the expectation of more than that was unreasonable IMHO. Really not much more to say that hasn't been said by many others--size of file differentials, etc. In general though, I thought it was a good way to end a 36 year career.

I am now officially retired. First day as a retiree was April 1st. Wonder if it being April Fool's Day has any larger meaning for me given that? LOL

A month and a half into retirement and still feeling good about it. Glad SSA is handling my retirement though as I just got my vacation buyout---it took the ARMY almost 4 months to get my husbands to him.
