Interesting since DWs and regional assistance centers have been short of work just like we have been short of hearings.

Interesting since DWs and regional assistance centers have been short of work just like we have been short of hearings. Things are heating up though. It makes sense to get moving on AA hiring if they are planning a wave of ALJ hiring.

They’re internal postings, so I think they’d be considered reassignments?

They’re internal postings, so I think they’d be considered reassignments? I thought they had to do transfers first? I don’t think we at least nteu has transfers like we used to. Check the K. I think if we want to transfer, we “apply” to work at a certain office and our applications are considered along with the new applications. But please look it up in the K to see what current policy is. Hardship transfers are still around.

This is limited to the first 200. It's only an 11 but it's decision writer ish so I put it here instead of Plan B, Other Positions. www.usajobs.gov/job/658838300

OTOH, it might make sense for a DW who is willing to accept a step down to an 11 to get into OAO, where there are more opportunities for non supervisory 13s. Or just gain some experience in a different component, switch things up. Does anyone know if it's at all possible to negotiate for a 12 at your current step?

The job has promotion potential to 12 and u already have the 12. If not, I think govt tries to match ur pay as close as possible so u would start at a higher step than 11-1 if u were hired.

Another way to move up eventually, make connections, and expand ur horizons is to apply for a management detail that opens about once a year. I don’t remember what it’s called but if selected, u work with your mentor on picking four 3 month assignments. The people I know who went this route have done well, including 2 becoming ALJs
