I didn't know where to put this question. Maybe Pixie will open a new thread. I saw a determination today with a bar code printed on it. Anyone know why? Not a BNC (that's elsewhere), but a real bar code. I don't remember hearing from TPTB about it. EDIT NOTE BY PIXIE: It's simple to start a new thread. Just look in the upper right hand corner where it says, "Create Thread" Click on that and you are in business. Pixie

I noticed many documents generated with DGS have barcodes on them now too. Probably makes it easier to efile them, etc. Of course nobody told anyone (at least not me or anyone in my office) about this until I tried efiling things and they disappeared.

New centralized mailing initiative. Almost everything will have a bar code and be scanned in at the London, KY facility now.

Barcodes?
I’ve been thinking about ChatGPT instead of barcodes. First, it could replace the DWs and then the ALJs.
Fortunately, SSA uses terrible software like HCAPs so that is a long way away.
Regardless, makes me wonder if ChatGPT could analyze an electronic disability file and all of the regs to conclude whether or not a claimant is disabled. That AI is scary stuff.
