Has anyone heard about cameras being installed in the hearing rooms?

I have not, other than the old school video Hearings
Otherwise, that would seem to go against our requirements for confidentiality.

What kind of cameras? We’ve had cameras in ours forever, whether for VTC purposes or for the security guard. The security guard cameras don’t show the bench but show everything else.

The new "security" cameras have been installed in ours. It is located behind the judge's bench. Union said they should be angled so that the ALJ, the ALJ work area, the ALJ computer screens are not seen, rather just the other participants. They say it is for security and not to "supervise" the work of the ALJ. The feed goes to the main security desk, the HOCALJ and I think the HOD. I know on my in person days, I stop by the security guard's station and check the feed to be sure the cameras are still aimed properly. I have been told it is video only, no audio.
The VTC cameras are located across from the ALJ so the ALJ is seen during the VTC hearing but should not be operating at any other time. The VTC cameras do not have a feed going anywhere else.

We got cameras so ALJs can do OVH hearings from the hearing room (for mixed docket days).

There are cameras in the hearing rooms - managers in offices with the new security systems have a television screen that can view all the Hearing, rooms, lobby, and other places in the offices at all times. So keep that in mind if you’re sitting in a hearing room, there are people watching.
