Has anyone heard any rumors (or truths) about when SSA ALJ applications will be accepted again?

SSA needs a budget in order to hire. As of 10/1/08 it will be on a continuing resolution. My guess is that no cert will be sought before January 2009.

Newbie here, how often does OPM conduct the ALJ hiring process? Once a year?

I would guess that it won't be until after the list is refreshed. The Commish was pushing OPM to refresh this and I would think SSA will not ask for a new cert until that is done.
sgl, it is done as needed, but because of litigation had not been done for several years until last May. The current testing is only the second time since sometime around 1999 or there abouts.
