I was in the September '07 group. Low scorer. Can anyone tell me whether I can now expand the locations for consideration? I was ineligible to re-apply when the process re-opened because a year had not passed since my application. I thought we could expand the places for consideration after one year without re-applying. If so, how is this done?
I also appealed my score. Any information on the appeals process?

I think I just answered my question on the new geographic location...I blew it? I am constantly frustrated by this process. Where did I get the idea that geographic preferences could not be changed for one year?

It's a difficult system to figure out. I think OPM had said we had to wait 1 year to change your geographic preferences. However, when the rumor of a new application was announced, I contacted the "aljapplication@opm" people and they said that there would be instructions in the new examination announcement. That announcement said that those on the register could change their preferences while the application period was open (it was open for 36 hours). You might want to email the "aljapplication" people to see if you can still change. It won't hurt to ask. Good luck. Jerseymom

You have got to read the materials/instructions very carefully and follow them exactly through the entire process. Everyone who applied in 2007 was given the info on when they could change geographic preferences at that time in the announcement/application posting.
I suggest making a cheat sheet with the important bits of info for yourself. Set the OPM USAJOBS to daily emails to notify you when the next application period opens and be ready to email your changes!

A word of caution. I had the OPM notification thing set for daily updates on the ALJ openings and NEVER received a word from them. If I had relied on OPM to let me know, I would have missed it entirely.
The last two openings, OPM ran some announcements that it was coming. If you periodically check here, you should know that the window is about to open. Once you get that news, check USAjobs every day.

Hey just curious, does anyone think we will start to hear results this week, I need some good news. I just read where Lehman Brothers is bankrupt and Washington Mutual is heading that way, what a Monday.
