I took the WD and am about to proceed to the SI. I need to change my geographical choices. Does anyone know how?

You cannot add to your geographical preferences. If you are part of a cert for SSA or any other agency, you will have the option to eliminate some of the cities for which you will be considered. But you cannot change any of the cities that are on file with OPM until the register reopens.

When SSA decides to hire a certain amount of judges, it will request a certificate of eligibles (cert) from OPM, based upon the scores of the folks on the ALJ register and their geographical preferences. When you are notified by SSA that you are on the cert, you will be advised of the cities for which you are eligible (SSA may not be hiring at that particular time for each city on your list), and you will then have the opportunity to withdraw your name from consideration for any cities for which you no longer wish to be considered. You cannot add cities. For the actual register with OPM for which you are now testing, you cannot change any of your geographical preferences until the next time the register opens up.

Thanks, Chief. Can you clarify when in the process I can delete cities. What's the consequence of withdrawing one's name from consideration for cities in which one is no longer interested.

When you receive notification from SSA that you are on a certificate of eligibles, you will also be provided a list for all of the cities for which you are up for consideration. Within a few days of receiving this list, you will need to return the list and note for which cities you still wish to be considered. I am not quite certain, but I believe that removing a city from one's list means that SSA will not consider you for that city again until there is a new register. I have not had to eliminate any cities, so I am not certain that I am correct. I invite others to weigh in on that part of your question.
