How many vacation days ALJs accumulate per year? Is it like in the other federal civil service? Four (4) hours per pay period during first three(3) years; Six (6) hours after three (3) years up to fifteen (15) years of service; and eight(8) hours after more than fifteen (15) years of service. Is this is so?

I'm assuming that prior Federal service "tacks" for this purpose. Is that correct?

Yes. I had 2 years prior federal service, and my payroll information reflects this in the service computation date.

Military service, however, only counts if you are not drawing retired pay at grade of Major (O-4) or higher.
Hey, who has time to take vacation, anyway? It's all I can do to keep from losing the credit hours.

Military service in certain combat situations also counts. SSA had the option to credit experience, military or otherwise, that directly relates to your duties, but has determined that ALJs are not critical and so does not.

Hey, who has time to take vacation, anyway? It's all I can do to keep from losing the credit hours. I hear you - between the credit hours I'm not using and the vacation time I'm accruing (I'm thankfully in the 8 hr/pay period category), I may finally make it back to use or lose status this year (after years of struggling to recover the leave I used on parental leave) |
