socsecnews.blogspot.com/2009/02/1-billion-for-social-security.html#links (Courtesy of Charle Hall's blog) Looks like SSA will have $500 million to improve operations once the stimulus bill is signed in the very near future (this will be on top of their current funding from the CR). One wonders how much of that will trickle down to ODAR, and how much of it will translate into the addition of FTE support staff for the field offices (which are sorely needed). But regardless, it looks like the funding for another large scale ALJ hiring is a sure thing now. The new million dollar question is whether HQ is going to have the time to do that small cert Pixie was mentioning earlier before OPM rolls out the new register.

It is my understanding that the stimulus money ($500 Million) is designated to reduce the pending backlog... Backlogs exist in more than one place in the Administration... For example, some allege that there is a substantial backlog of SSA Executives awaiting brain transplants.

It is my understanding that the stimulus money ($500 Million) is designated to reduce the pending backlog... Backlogs exist in more than one place in the Administration... For example, some allege that there is a substantial backlog of SSA Executives awaiting brain transplants. Brain implants for these folks have been protested by PETA, so watch it buddy. Once these are done, then dogs and monkeys will be next.
