I am just curious. At the final interview, are the odar experienced candidates more scrutinized to such things as past behavior, productivity, and, yes, those without nostril honing talents?

Not so much at the final interview, but at the reference checking stage is where the insiders will be checked out pretty thoroughly. Remember that past supervisors are contacted. And remember that last year, productivity and ability to get along were on the list of questions asked. Of course these questions are now asked of all potential candidates.

The final interview is a recommend/not recommend decision. They do also consider inputs from the background checks.

It is my understanding that they checked on productivity of writers, as if that would correlate to hearing cases as an ALJ. Supervisor comments were also given great weight.

Well, productivity may not be an exact coorelation, but it sure lets you know if the candidate is a hard worker. I'm not sure if it is true in all offices, but in many offices the senior attorney gets the most difficult decisions to write-so a high production rate is probably a good sign.

What if the supervisor/verifier you named in the online application (I'm assuming that is who will be called) is no longer available? Will we get a chance to submit updated references?
