I like to check in on both boards to get the scoop, although this one is better. I have noticed lately that this Ben guy or whomever he or she is, is deleting the heck out of posts. Not just would be trolls, but many for no reasons. If there is going to be any news on the horizon, I would like to know about it, such as another continuing resolution, and not what big brother wants me to know.
At least we have the WIld Wild West here, TOB is more like the wild wild middle east!

He deletes the posts by the fool who posts there with the same message in every thread and posts that are rude to identifiable groups of employees. Otherwise it is an open board. Thank goodness Ben came back.

ALJ, I agree, it is a good thing "Ben" came back. He has restored some of the balance and order and yet not subdued overly much the animal spirits and free wheeling nature of the other board. So you are right, it really is an open board in spite of (or perhaps because of) Ben's oversight. The ALJ Discussion board (this board) is no slouch, either. There are very robust and free-ranging discussions here, too. Flannery

Ben has a very tough job on the old board. Without registration, you really have some juvenile behaviors there. The lack of moderation there in the past almost kill the old board, so any effort Ben spent in cleaning up the mess is to be applauded in my opinion. ;D

It's censorship the same way I censor somebody when I trash a flier somebody tucked under my windshield wiper. He doesn't have to let his board get cluttered up with junk posts.

Bad analogy, Zero, a flyer is for the driver's eyes, who owns the care, not the people in the car. The posts are for more eyes that the guy deleting. BTW, is Zero your score?

Excellent analogy. If not removed (flyer or post), everyone must look at it.

Right, it's more like taking down the hooker ads from a neighborhood light post that people use to advertise a lost pet or babysitting services.

Its Ben's board . . . he has warned that person more than once about his behavior and constant spamming . . . Ben makes the rules and if you don't listen, you can be deleted . . .
Every forum operates the same way . . . each has its own rules and moderators . . . there is no right to post whatever you want on someone else's forum . . .

Yeah, but then the hookers will go hungry...Also, some guys might want a hooker over a lost pet...

Excellent analogy. If not removed (flyer or post), everyone must look at it. No, only the driver MUST look at it. If he wants he can pass it on I suspose. I would have used another anology. You cannot yell "fire" in a movie theater.

Yes, it is the owner's rules which if someone does not like, do not view or post. Simple. Is it just one person's post being deleted or an idea or aggravating tone? I read some posts and one hour later they are gone the next, no explanation. I had planned to respond with vigor!

At the risk of being throttled for failing to research or for asking a stupid question; what is "the other board?" Are you talking about the Wild, Wild West Board?

At the risk of being throttled for failing to research or for asking a stupid question; what is "the other board?" Are you talking about the Wild, Wild West Board? It's a fair question. TOB, "The Old Board", or "The Other Board" as it referred to here is the old ALJ Improvement Board. Which is the predecessor of this board and used to be a hotbed of trolls and flames. Things got so bad there from May - August of 2007 that a group of posters from the old board decamped from there in August of 2007 and we started this Board (it was simply too distracting to exchange relevant information when you have to wade through posts like these). Things are a bit better now that Ben, the moderator there, is actively clamping down on the worse poster(s). Overall, it's a great case study of the problem that comes with anonymous internet postings. Finally, on the ALJ Improvement Board, our board here is referred to as TOB (aka "The Other Board") as well.

And the moderator on TOB has determined either the identity of, or at least the office in which the worst troll is employed.

And the moderator on TOB has determined either the identity of, or at least the office in which the worst troll is employed. And it wasn't that hard to track down. Each time you post on one of these boards your IP address is logged by the system. Admin can determine if you are posting from a private or government computer. Admin can also tell where your ISP is located. Act accordingly
