Does anyone have any experience with the immigration judge application process & time frame?

Check the old posts on this board. IJ has been discussed. It is not an ALJ position and has none of the protections ALJ's have.

I did run that search before I started this thread, and received no relevant hits. I had seen the old post a few months ago about someone's long quest for an immigration judge job, so I sent a private message to ALJDiscussion to see if the old thread had gotten deleted. The answer was, that if it had been deleted, this could have been done by the person who started the thread. It's possible that the thread wasn't originally about the immigration judge position, but someone mentioned that while discussing a different topic. So, after I ran into a dead end looking for the old post, I started the new thread.
I've noticed in the past that sometimes the search function does not retrieve posts that have the word you're looking for. I don't know why. I've tested this several times, and the search function does not always work. However, if I've missed something and you're able to get a relevant hit, please let me know the name of the poster and/or the date of the prior post, and I'll try to find it that way. Thanks.

I've noticed in the past that sometimes the search function does not retrieve posts that have the word you're looking for. I don't know why. The search function has a default time frame of last 7 days. To expand your search range to older posts, expand the time frame under the "Posted Within The" to a longer date range. I tested this out by searching for "immigration" and expanded the time frame to 365 days and all the prior posts came up. Also, if there are more than 10 relevant posts, you might want to increase the number of "Maximum Results:" to more than 10, which is the default number.

Aha! That was helpful. I've been doing my searches using the search function at the bottom of the page, the Google search of aljdiscussion.proboards107.com. The Google search does not catch all the posts, for some unknown reason. It doesn't have a time limiter, so when I read your message, I realized that you must have been talking about a different kind of search. Then I noticed the search icon at the top. That icon runs a more refined search, and gets all the hits. For example, when I searched "Oops" using the Google search, it didn't catch my Oops message from earlier (although it hit some other Oops messages from other posters). The search icon at the top of the page caught all the Oops messages (as well as the immigration judge thread). Thank you!
