Does any know if your references are contacted by telephone, email or mail?

References are contacted by phone by an independent company which will ask a set of standardized questions. I have heard some of the questions relate to productivity and an ability to handle a large docket. If they contact the required number of references, then they don’t contact the rest. Company will leave a message to call if reference is not available. Be sure your references know to call back quickly when contacted.

What should I do if I can only list two Judge references that would be familiar with my work? The nature of my legal practice has me all over the country and not before the same judge more than once.

Use the two and explain why the rest don't know you well enough to give an opinion. They will get the info they need from a number of different sources.
Good Luck
