After we fax all the latest batch of forms back to Falls Church, do we get an acknowledgment that they got them, or do we have to rely on the 'receipt' given from our fax machine, then wait for the call?

I didn't think they would send acknowledgments out since they have a ton of apps and a very short window to process them. So I went ahead and sent one of the POCs an e-mail last week after I faxed my docs, and she was kind enough to reply back and confirm receipt.

I don't know if this will make anyone feel better, but I had trouble with my fax machine. I received an e-mail from them saying "Page 6 did not come through, please re-fax." Then a confirmation when it was received. Bottom line - they are going through these as they are getting them.

I'll tell you--those OPM folks who are processing these documents are on the ball. During this stage, I had two questions for them, the most recent being related to the same problem Barkley describes (not all pages went through). On both occasions, I had a pretty prompt resolution of my question.... They are really bookin' it...

I also applaud OPM / ODAR or whomever - I emailed and asked if mine got there OK, and within five minutes had a response that all was well. One more thing to check off my "worry about today" list.

I also applaud OPM / ODAR or whomever SSA - ODAR now. OPM has nothing to do with it once they sent the cert off. The rest of this show belongs to SSA. The staff you contacted works at the Office of Chief Administrative Law Judge (OCALJ). They are definitely on the ball this round.

I called and spoke with Ms. Fox. She was polite and very helpful and confirmed receipt of my fax as I waited. This must be a very busy time for them, so their courtesy was appreciated.

I'm getting ready to fax the forms and noticed that the Notification says that "the above five documents must be faxed. . . ". However, one of these is the Summary of Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Sooooo, it doesn't get faxed, right? That's logical, right - I only fax four out of the five documents?

My opinion:
Fax 'em all. It is what it says to do and the extra cost is neglible.

PS: If we were really following instructions, we'd have put our last name twice, right?

Oh, it was a test. The only question: was the correct response to follow directions without questioning authority or was the correct response to use common sense? And what does that say about the type of ALJ desired? 8^)

Just keep remembering that they want ALJs to be computer literate. If you fixed the error at least it shows that you know how to do it. There are people who don't know how to fix it. And there are people who filled out the form by hand.

I e-mailed about whether to fax the "5th" document (Fair Credit Notice), and was told that it was to be faxed back as proof that it was received. I was then advised that my e-mail was sufficient evidence that I had received it. As stated above, better off to just fax it, although I think whether you do or don't won't be a deal killer since SSA HR recognizes that the instructions were vague.
