Reference checks are not complete so decisions not until next week and offers a week to ten days after that. report dates in August for first half and in September for second half. ALJ school 2 weeks after initial report date. All offers before end of FY. Approximately 125 new hires this go around assuming everyone accepts. no knowledge of any delayed start dates. that may have been precipitated by the hiring freeze but the new ALJ class is not affected so no delayed start dates. these are the latest things i have heard.

I know that reference checks are not complete because they are still playing phone tag with mine. They just started calling mine last week.
I was really hoping the offers would go out next week. My original guess was July 29th and it looks like it may be close to that after all. I have kept all of my options open for about as long as I can at this point, but I trust God, as His timing and plan is perfect. God Bless everyone.

I just heard that the decision making process began last week. I admit, this does not seem possible or reliable since some reference checks were continuing ongoing as of Friday, but thought I would share what I "know".

I think they could have begun last week. They have a lot of applications to review. Why not start making their top one or two selections for each spot, then wait for the references to finish up. I think in general, the references are going to be pretty positive, with the occasional surprise here and there. They could then just wait for the references to play out to confirm their selections.

And, looking at it from the other end, it's fairly easy to weed out the ones you know you don't want, based on the interview, and pretty much regardless of what the references have said or will say. You can do that in advance, too.

Based on my experiences hiring people, references never pushed anyone from the "No" pile to the "Yes" or "Maybe" piles but they certainly turned Yes and Maybe pile candidates into No.

If someone "blew" the interview in some way, their references will not save them.
