patiently, I agree with you. Dump everyone in the pool before they scrap the register.

Does anyone want to guess the date Bob will call and make offers? Has anyone had an interview yet?

If there's only 25-30 anticipated hires, then SSA must have "miscommunicated" its hiring intensions to OPM, because there are 200-300 people being vetted from the current cert. The past couple of times that SSA hired for ALJ posiitons, it received far more than 3 candidates per vacancy too, and hired about half of what was initially reported. However, there are 42 localities on the current max-GAL, so that would seem to indicate more than 25-30 hires, especially since multiple people could be hired for some of the lcoalities.
At any rate, there apparently are not many people being interviewed this time, which means most people on the current cert. were sent over on a prior cert. Better odds for those with lower scores, as they may now be in the middle of the pecking order.

I think they purposely want to pick up a couple of three struck and to do that, they have to look at a fairly large number of three struck on this last Cert in order to avoid law suits..JMHO. Further, if they want someone with a low score, they would have to ask for a large Cert to get to them. This is a very unusual Cert and really does not compare to prior Certs. We will just have to wait and see. I wish you all the best and would like to see them hire you all, but.. ODAR does as ODAR sees fit to do..

Can judges be hired for offices that do not have current vacancies? Xyz office has 6 judges. Can a 7th be added, and placed in a vacant writer office?

I was on every cert since 2007 until the last one, when Bob G confirmed to me that they were not looking at 3-strikers. I am not on this one. I expect that the 'cert' is for a lot of people, most of whome are being ignored, and the hiring will be small and consist of low scorers who had not been reachable before.

I received a SSA phone call to verify personnel information from a "Suitability Unit" in Baltimore. I was told that they do this for everyone on the list. I am pretty Zen at this point...

Question-- why would they wait till late May to make offers if the next part of the new test would be over by then? Wouldn't it make more sense to make the offers first? Otherwise many of us may have to take, and they will have to grade, tests for no reason.

Many of us have already been interviewed and I believe I read that they will not reinterview.

Many of us have already been interviewed and I believe I read that they will not reinterview. You are correct that they only interview you once on this register. As far as the relationship between hires off this cert and the testing for the new register, they don't have anything to do with one another. OPM is running the new register show, not SSA. SSA knows it will take MONTHS for OPM to develop the register. They are filling these vacant positions now (hopefully the hires will actually happen), knowing there will likely be no more hiring until the new register is ready.

Justice Dude, I've never heard of being contacted by the "Suitability Unit." Thanks for that detail. Maybe that means you're on the short list. Good luck!

I received a SSA phone call to verify personnel information from a "Suitability Unit" in Baltimore. I remember getting a call from them in 2009 to clear up a reference issue. Good luck!

With the GAL expansion, it would appear at least a few people will need to be interviewed according to the poll. The GAL expansion might pick up some people, but most of those were already interviewed under their old GAL. Scores too low to have been picked up before would make up almost all the rest of those being interviewed, along with vets who are new to the register. I don't think there's a "short list" based on calls from this "suitability unit". Most of us who have gone through the process several times have never received such calls. If they are calling to verify something or clear something up on the paperwork, it's just that.

We all just wait for another month. Candidates who have not yet been interviewed should have already been called to go to Falls Church. There will be silence until job offers via telephone which all go out on the same day, usually one month or so before job start date. We will know it is happening through pro boards chatter. If you are not chosen then no call. Since this class will start in July, it is highly likely that ODAR will make offers in late May.

I am on this current certificate. The SSA contractor has contacted most of my references already. However, no call or email for me to go to Falls Church for an interview. I did not get interview in past at this stage. Not sure what that means, aside from maybe bad references? Oh well.

Didn't mean to worry you hop2it. For what it's worth, I am not an insider so my comments are just based on my experience from other certs.
