There is a cafeteria in the building that anyone can use. I can't remember about the water, etc. It seems like we could bring water - they supply everything else. There was a convenient bathroom. What logic tests are you studying? If there are too many fish with names in an aquarium, I am sunk.

I recommend ear plugs if you are easily distracted. Last time the guy next to me began immediately pounding on his computer - I was trying to get through the facts -- it drove me crazy. I have already purchased mine for this time around. LOL.

Like Jlee said, OPM's cafeteria is not limited to OPM employees. Non-federal employees may need an escort, however. I don't miss a meal if you're wondering why I know this ... PS: the employee I spoke with said the food is meh but'll serve in a pinch.

I did not have to face the prospect of dining on the premises. If it is any consolation, everyone at OPM will know y'all are there as although its a large building, you tend to stand out. A half an hour to muscle into a set pattern of the hommies lined up at the cafeteria does not sound to me like a plan. If it was me I would be packed with Snickers, an egg salad sandwich (hard to ralph) and whatever else pleases your stomach. And of course alot of water.
Do not have a plan that adds to your stress. Be a boy scout.

Hello, I am new to the Board and I am leaving for the DC phase tomorrow and trying to pack light. Any suggestions on what to wear for the exam day? I assume business attire is not necessary, maybe business casual? I am female and don't want to wear hose, heels, suit - I want to be comfortable.

Kick it up a notch for the SI. Good luck, and safe travels!

Please come back when you're through and give us a report. What people are wearing, how cold it is in the testing room, whether we can bring water in with us, etc. That will help the rest of us plan and pack!

I intend to wear a comfortable skirt and a sleeveless top with a warm long sleeve sweater in tow just in case--going with layers! I think the key is to be comfortable for the testing, but not too casual. Every fed building classroom I have ever been in has been cold, but you never know when some AC unit may be on the fritz. Good luck taco!!!!

Sratty, thanks for pointing out the A/C temp. I was also thinking comfortable casual--summer sheath dress--and will now throw in a sweater for good measure.
Best of luck, Taco!

I had my first nightmare about the Step 3 and "what to expect." When I arrived in D.C. I was surrounded by at least 5 shareholders from our office who were also testing. It was quite the awkward moment since I have not disclosed my application. I hope these dreams stop or its going to be a long month (testing Sept. 9-10).

Here's hoping your nightmares stop. Hopefully, see you in DC.

I walked into the SI and introduced my self. First question was to admit or deny I was aka "funyodar" and then about my posts critical of the agency, opm and the process.

Lol, mine was about an alleged typo on my résumé. I'm taking solace in the hope that they can't go off script.
