If there is an updated transfer list for 2014 it would be much appreciated if someone could post that with names redacted. The November 2013 one that was posted in .xls format was very helpful. Thanks.

I asked for this awhile back on a different thread and was told it won't be redone until the ALJ's get a new K. That didn't make sense to me, but - hey - what do I know? Still it is hard for me to believe the union can function effectively without having an updated transfer list. That's pretty basic. Seems like the problem is getting someone with access to it to post it. Would it help if we said "pretty please"?

The problem is not getting the transfer list, it is redacting it.. Who tackled the November list? I don't remember, but it was very interesting/mildly helpful in understanding popular cities, etc. Hey - apparently us ALJ wannbees have time to post throughout the day - maybe a few of us could take this project on for you busy ALJs!

I am still a little unclear on the need for redaction of people who are transferring but I respect that those ALJs may want that information kept quiet. I am not sure how helpful the list would be this time around since ALJs can place 5 cities on the transfer list but I would be happy to redact names or crunch on the list in excel. If somebody does post it I suggest that we divide it up and put it into excel so that no one has to do all the heavy lifting themselves. I even have some ideas for how we can add value to us by including # of ALJS assigned to each HO. Then perhaps insiders in those offices could give us some additional nuggets to work with.....

Yeah - a "vacancy" list, by city, would be much more helpful for 2014 certificate purposes - particularly one compiled after the current/soon round of transfers are completed.

Careful BagLady, I once was embarrassingly caught rolling in oregano flakes.. But that is a story for another time..

But how do you know which vacancies they intend to fill? If there are people left on the transfer list for a location, that suggests they are not going to fill slots, but does anybody other than someone in a secret room somewhere know which vacancies are going to be filled this time around? Seems like all we can do is count empty offices which may be more confusing than helpful.

True, we won't know where there are empty offices, or which empties they intend to fill, etc. What the Transfer List does is give you a feel for which offices are popular choices for requesting transfers in, and which offices ALJs want to leave. Depending upon how you spin this it can be valuable information in deciding how/whether to trim your GAL.

You don't know which vacancies they intend to fill but you have a much better sense of where they can fill if you have the list.

Yes. They started at the end of September, so it's well past the 90-day minimum to join the list. Not sure how many have succeeded. The new judges I know of are still in their original duty locations.

The transfer list is still being worked. Until that project is finished, not much is certain as to which offices will be available for new hires.

Yes, I know of one shiny new Judge who just got a transfer approved this week. On the job just over six months, including the month of training back in October.
