Seemed like I was searching for distractions, this evening, while watching a disturbing Netflix movie with my wife. I only saw parts of it, but I think the plot centered around ghosts in Montgomery, Memphis, and Chicago. So here is the March 14, 2014 transfer list, as it appears on the AALJ web site, but fully redacted (names replaced and ALJ numbers removed). If it uploads in the same format as I have saved it, it should be sortable by the headings, except for the date columns. I couldn't figure out how to format those columns properly, so they sort as though they are digits and not dates. Service Comp and Appointment Dates are intact, but it is unlikely anyone would make the guess who any particular judge might be, based on that info. If anyone suspects that I am in error about this (i.e., that this is, indeed, personally identifiable information), let me know and I will quickly pull the post and re-work it. On the other hand, the cats may be way too far out of the bag, and the moderators will, instead, reprimand me. A good cross reference is Gaidan's post of the November list. Perhaps he can link it below. He had also estimated the number of ALJ slots per office. However, I will note that his estimate of my own office was inflated by one. I should also state that I have knowledge the list is currently being worked. One of our management team today asked me if I knew of a particular judge that our office is due to receive. The support and camaraderie on this board never cease to amaze me. I only hope I can pay it forward one day.
Thanks, Peter!

If there is an updated transfer list for 2014 it would be much appreciated if someone could post that with names redacted. The November 2013 one that was posted in .xls format was very helpful. Thanks. I believe that peterprinciple's redacted list is the transfer from list, but you may be able to switch to the transfer to list on the spreadsheet (I'm a luddite). FYI, there are three transfer lists at the AALJ website: an alphabetical transfer list, a transfer from list and a transfer to list. The transfer to list shows how many ALJs wish to transfer to a certain ODAR by Regions 1-10, while a transfer from list shows how many ALJs want to leave a certain ODAR, again by Regions 1-10, and the alphabetical list speaks for itself. Here are the R10 numbers from the March 2014 transfer to list. Maybe other ALJs will do their regions from the transfer to list for you. Anchorage - 0 Eugene - 2 Portland - 7 Seattle - 12 Spokane - 3 Tacoma - 8

The transfer list provided can be sorted based on any of the columns, as long as you save it as an excel workbook or spreadsheet. The spreadsheet can be sorted to be the "transfer from" list or the "transfer to" list, you just need to sort based on the column you are interested in. As long as you choose the "expand selection" the entire spreadsheet will re-sort based on the column you choose to sort by.

So, for example, the 3 Spokane hopefuls might also be taking up slots on the Seattle and Tacoma lists. There's no easy way to tell.

And some NHC Judges have signed up for as many as 15, so that may give you an idea about the desirability of the NHCs??

And some NHC Judges have signed up for as many as 15, so that may give you an idea about the desirability of the NHCs?? Bart are NHCS judges allowed 15 locations while other ALJ only get five locations? Just curious. I can tell the NHCs are not popular.

Well, the transfer list would make it appear so, although we have not been able to get an official response from anybody. Some NHC Judge have as many as 15 cities they wish to transfer to. This may be the Agency reaction to the Union pushing to have their transfer preference removed.

The limit is now 5 choices on transfer list and I think the NHC judges now have been limited to that as well --at least it appears so on the latest list

I agree it appears to be limited to 5 - at least my review of that list showed no judge with more than 5 transfer out locations.

Sheesh. Looking over this transfer list, I can see that the cities on my GAL are like cemeteries. Everyone's dying to get in!

Yes there are ALJs wanting to get back to the Seattle/Tacoma area that are on both the Seattle and Tacoma lists and a few that are also on the Portland list.

Thank you, peterprinciple. The information in your list, and the ability to manipulate the data, is fantastic. Excellent job.

I am working on a coinciding list that will show how many ALJS were in each office between September and December 2013. If we could divide the list we were just provided alphabetically so that we can identify each office and the # of people requesting transfer out and the # requesting transfer in then we will have a sense of which offices might have space after the transfer wheel stops turning. I will take that data and put it in a master spread sheet. Can I get some volunteers? If you want to volunteer for a specific region that might make things easier to do.
