I think it is interesting how few Region 4 offices are on the Cert.

My hope is there may be a few more cities still to come; otherwise, I'm out this time around. Maybe next time. That stinks, ok1956, I was rooting for you on this ODAR cert. But for Omaha, it doesn't look like any of the cities in Kansas or Oklahoma are on this cert. However, since about 80% of all current ALJs are at or past retirement age, I'm guessing our cities will open up within the next year or two; or maybe by Monday. Funky was saying Wichita may be on this cert, so maybe it yet will be.

Congratulations to all who received a cert email. It doesn't look like the NOR scores quite made it low enough for me. Just a smidgen too high to reach me. Maybe next time. Remember there will be more chances next year for everyone not lucky enough this time.

I think it is interesting how few Region 4 offices are on the Cert. I think that is interesting as well. - information is that ODAR plans to hire roughly 90 ALJs this year - information is that two training classes will be held, with probably 45 in each class - information is that cert is for about 44 cities - information is that OPM required a different request for each city - ostensibly ODAR could request whichever cities it had a vacancy, in whichever order it wanted to - so maybe the specific cities requested is somehow part of the plan? - and so another cert is imminent? But maybe after the carnage of the first cert clears out some people? I don't think it's imminent, but it will not surprise me if cert #2 is out as early as this fall. Of course, given the timeline so far, perhaps 5-6 months from now qualifies as relatively imminent?

Like Wayne and hilltopper, I have Harlingen, Texas on my list. This city is not listed on the SSA site on the list of cities? ?

Harlingen is a satellite office. My understanding is they now allow those as full time duty stations.
Very interesting that no nhc were listed.

Very interesting that no nhc were listed. I agree - Funky - you think they could be coming with a follow on list, like OMHA did with Denver? Or saving those vacancies for next year?

No idea Ace. Val and several judges I know all seemed certain there would be hiring at the nhc in large numbers. Maybe next fiscal or maybe a separate round of certs this year.
Based on the numbers that are reporting, which seems low unless more are coming, I wonder if they are splitting the notifications/interviews/hiring this year. We know they are hiring 90 split into two start dates/training classes of 45. Maybe those that made this cert are just for the first 45 and there will be another group for the second 45 soon?
Just spitballing...

Correct on the satellite office as we can now put our names on the transfer list for satellite offices; and some of those lists are quite long. Regular ALJs can't get on the transfer list to any NHCs; I just accepted a transfer to a satellite office and am happy going there, but I also had ABQ on my transfer list and would have listed the NHC there if I could have; typically they interview for those positions, not sure how they would put new hires there without giving sitting judges the option. Oh and congrats to everyone!

the numbers reporting they made it are too low to make sense....
Here, in order of likelihood, are my guesses as to why:
1. There are more coming this evening or monday. 2. There are a large number of folks that haven't yet checked the boards or their emails as few expected this today. 3. Our membership is far lower than the guesstimated 33% of all candidates. 4. This cert notification is just for the first class of 45 this fiscal and not the whole 90. 5. They got far fewer than 5 unique names per slot. Even fewer than 3 unique names per slot.

I am on today's Cert (Certs?). 38 of the 44 cities were on my GAL, and of those 38 I got 12. My score was in the 74-75 band. Hope that helps.

Funky, I've been scratching my head for the last few hours because, like you, to me it makes no sense. There are way too few people reporting receiving an email to make the process work. Of your theories, I think #2 and #3 are unlikely. Just watching the board, there are a couple of hundred people that pay close attention to this site, whether they are members or lurkers. From the poll results, it appears they have at least 5 for every venue, even though most are covered by the same people. They either need more people or a second cert. I can't see it working as it is ....

Its been reported that, if selected for an nhc, you have an additional 2 weeks of managment training after your 4 weeks in FC.
From the proposed class schedule recently posted, doesn't look like there is that time between the first and second classes. So, to do the additional 2 weeks you would need to do it after the second class.
So maybe they are splitting them and this is the first 45 slots. A second group may include certs for the nhc? Again, just a guess.
