Its been reported that, if selected for an nhc, you have an additional 2 weeks of managment training after your 4 weeks in FC. From the proposed class schedule recently posted, doesn't look like there is that time between the first and second classes. So, to do the additional 2 weeks you would need to do it after the second class. So maybe they are splitting them and this is the first 45 slots. A second group may include certs for the nhc? Again, just a guess. I initially doubted it, but doing it that way would allow SSA to experiment with the new cert process and perhaps create an argument for additional names in the future or a return to the previous cert process.

Alas, although it looks like my NOR is in range, none of my very narrow GAL cities are on this cert. So YAY! and CONGRATS! to those who got tapped for this one.
AND actually it's not really very bad info for me. Let some of you high-scoring, point-toting hot-shots take slots in places I can't go right now, and maybe my area will be on the next cert.
Meanwhile, I'll live (and learn) vicariously thru the Board and pick up tips for when my turn (hopefully) comes.
Go get 'em you guys - make us proud!

Users Online in the Last 24 Hours 1 Staff, 167 Members, 1,128 Guests.
The above is from the first page of the board. 167 unique members online in the last 24 hours. 1,128 guests, many of whom are members who didn't log in. But there must be several dozen lurkers as well.

Some are sitting ALJs, some may not be on the register, etc. so the 167 unique names isn't really a lot of names for the total register from this Board.

So if one person keeps looking repeatedly (geez, who does that? LOL!) that number may be significantly lower. I think MUCH lower.

the numbers reporting they made it are too low to make sense.... Here, in order of likelihood, are my guesses as to why: 1. There are more coming this evening or monday. 2. There are a large number of folks that haven't yet checked the boards or their emails as few expected this today. 3. Our membership is far lower than the guesstimated 33% of all candidates. 4. This cert notification is just for the first class of 45 this fiscal and not the whole 90. 5. They got far fewer than 5 unique names per slot. Even fewer than 3 unique names per slot. 1. Maybe so. 2. You think? Man I've been hitting refresh so much I have carpal tunnel. 3. Possibly. 4. That's what I think. 5. Trying to get my mind around this possibility, and what it might mean. I am completely in agreement with #1 and #4. 24 reporting for 44 cities so far? Plus no NHC slots yet....take this and Funky's post about the extra 2 weeks of management training and you have another list of cities that include the NHC slots coming....that's my guess. 45 and 45. Once step at a time to test the process. Logical. How this impacts interview times? I don't know. And that is even IF this is a valid theory. But I agree, way too few reporting in with emails at this point, so we do not have the whole picture yet.... whatever that means!

Made it. 2 cities. A little above average score. Welcome to the board, you only need one (1) city to get hired! Best of luck and watch out for Funky, he's crazy!

I made the cert too. Seven cities off a mostly western US GAL. Score was on the higher end of the bell curve.
I note that in the polls, there are over thirty distinctive voters indicating their cert locations. Seems that suggests not all members have posted on this thread who have voted in the polls.

A second group may include certs for the nhc? Again, just a guess. Sure hope there is a cert for NHCs. In my dream world, I was hoping I'd be able to have video conferences. Then I could have crazy hair and just blame the video quality!

I saw that, too. If 30 represents ~25% of the register, that's only 120 names - a little short, but would be in the ballpark of 3 unique names each for 45 slots. However, we clearly don't have the entire picture yet (and, perhaps, that is by design on the part of the PTB...)

My hope is there may be a few more cities still to come; otherwise, I'm out this time around. Maybe next time. That stinks, ok1956, I was rooting for you on this ODAR cert. But for Omaha, it doesn't look like any of the cities in Kansas or Oklahoma are on this cert. However, since about 80% of all current ALJs are at or past retirement age, I'm guessing our cities will open up within the next year or two; or maybe by Monday. Funky was saying Wichita may be on this cert, so maybe it yet will be. Thanks dpageks! I appreciate it....and hope you're right about the retirements!
