40-ish cities, no NHCs. email has spreadsheet attachment of cities we are on cert for. we can rank cities when we return dox. i think a wide-open GAL and a score in mid-ish-70s (maybe low-70s?) gets you on somewhere. high score and limited GAL has netted some folks an email, depending on cities. speculation that notifications are rolling, may still be coming - fingers crossed for those waiting. speculation second cert for NHCs and possible second Falls Church class still may be coming - fingers crossed. corrections welcomed.

I have a very limited GAL, score on the high end, non-vet, outsider - made the cert for 2 cities.

I made the cert too. Seven cities off a mostly western US GAL. Score was on the higher end of the bell curve. I note that in the polls, there are over thirty distinctive voters indicating their cert locations. Seems that suggests not all members have posted on this thread who have voted in the polls. An excellent point. There are also a few of us who didn't make the cert (or vote in the poll) but are posting in the discussion, just to make the statistical analysis more challenging ...

Here is my take on the SSA certs based upon some hopefully "educated" guessing. We have 45 cities listed in this cert give or take a few. We have 7 individuals listing a Greenville GAL cert being the lowest number of individuals listed and one GAL cert in Michigan with 20 individuals listing it in their GAL certs. The rest of the locations on the certs are somewhere in between with numbers of individuals listing them. Contrary to a lot of others, I believe we are done with certs for the hiring 90 ALJ positions in my opinion. Greenville probably has one ALJ opening. The Michigan site probably has three ALJ openings. And the rest of the cities listed either have one or two or possibly three openings. There are non-Board members who make up the rest of the cert for the 45 cities and 90 ALJ positions. The new OPM rules affected how the cert names were pulled and given to SSA. IMHO there has been a drastic effect on how SSA will be filling positions and pulling certs from now onward. Welcome to the new register and new way of how things are done. I wish I could be more optimistic about more certs coming next week for my own self, but I am not.

It will be interesting to see how the "three strike rule" applies in the new world. Stay tuned!

I think it indeed will be interesting mamaru. I think there will be three striking going on so SSA can go to those lower on the cert. Also, I think with the new register SSA will be doing less interviews and saving money on having the interviewees coming in to Falls Church. It's a win-win situation for them. Now, I believe the register is really about 800 strong give or take 50 people and with the way OPM does certs now, it won't have to be refreshed for at least three years because there will be plenty of unused candidates.

As of this morning 45 people have voted in the Cert poll. 196 members have been online in the last 24 hours. Unfortunately, I think MPD is right. I hope he is not and there will be more people (specifically yours truly) in this round of hiring but with the exception of some late arriving emails I think it's time for the rest of us to take another sip of situational bourbon and settle in to wait. I want to congratulate everyone who made it on to this cert. I wish you all good luck.

The number of members online in the last 24 hours doesn't tell you as much as you think, with many of them not in this hunt anyway. That said, I'm not expecting a huge number of new reports from here out either.
Yes, ODAR will save a lot of money on interviews. And, if they do the interviews and a significant percentage end up "not recommended", they can decide not to fill X number of slots and fill them later (even next FY) with a new cert. All the duplicate listings of the same people on multiple certs will make a very different process at the Puzzle Palace than in years past.

Also, I believe the idea of hiring for NHCs was not a valid rumor. There would have been some present ALJs who would have likely taken a lot of those NHC positions. Hence, situational bourbon sounds good and I will be drowning my sorrows until the next round of certs next fiscal year. I certainly wish the best to those who received a cert email and realize many of you may not be hired this time either. In some ways, I would rather be near the top of a new round of certs than on the bottom of this round of certs. Of course, those at the bottom now, may be at the top the next time around if not three struck. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

fyi, yes some current ALJ's did move to NHC jobs. I have no raw data but am aware this has happened. also, some of the NHC's or maybe all of them are in big cities so they could have a lot of ALJ transfer interest.

If the cert(s) really are 150 people total for 90 slots, everyone has a 60% shot. For the top 75%, it's even better. Of course, much will depend on your GAL. Still, this is unusually high.

Not necessarily because if a lot of those individuals on the cert come back not recommended after the interview SSA may not fill the ALJ spot and use that money this fiscal year to hire more staff at local SSA offices and ODAR offices. Nothing says SSA has to hire for a spot if it doesn't like the candidates on the cert for that location. Otherwise, yes your chances do increase with a good interview.

Are interviews in person or by phone?

Are interviews in person or by phone? In person in Falls Church. Paid for by SSA.

The interviews are in person in Falls Church. My understanding is that the number of not recommends is low. Is that wrong?

The interviews are in person in Falls Church. My understanding is that the number of not recommends is low. Is that wrong? Not sure, but I doubt it's significant. If they like you, they'll hire you. If they don't, they won't. If you're in the way if someone they like better, they won't. They can still manipulate the certs to some extent. Just wow them during the interview, and you won't have to worry.

Well, well...have a day when I can't check the board and look what happens! (you can thank me later since it appears to be a bit like me turning my back while fishing and they finally start biting) My very limited GAL cities did not make it on this cert, but that's ok. Maybe the next one. Congratulations to all who did make this one. i will keep my fingers, eyes and toes crossed for all of you.

I think there are tons of lurkers who allow whatever paranoia drives them or are so self-absorbed that they could care less about anyone else who don't report.
Then there are those who don't know about this Board. Outsiders, one would think,
Even given the above, this is a whole new ball game for ODAR so past predictions are not going to be accurate.
