We are certainly running short on time and in general I agree with you. One thing to remember is that the hiring decisions for the January class could run into early January and still give people 2 or even 3 weeks notice. Is that ideal? Nope. Is it feasible? Yep. Also Bob if you're reading I will take the job with 2 weeks notice while you are still telling me where I need to be in 2 weeks. Bob, I see Gaidin his 2 weeks notice and raise to one day's notice for any of my cities. Seriously, Bob, all I need is travel time. I don't need notice -- I can be ready to start with just a couple of hours drive time.

Happy Tuesday Scoobies! I think this is the week we will get some good news. Not that I know anything, I just think now is as good as time as any to get this process started:). Plus, the January class needs more bodies!

Bob has not checked in to work yet. Thanks for the update sratty. Certs can still be released without Bob, right?

Bob has not checked in to work yet. Thanks for the update sratty. Certs can still be released without Bob, right? Well not so sure about that. Dudeabides posted that Bob said that "he would be out of the office until 10/23 on leave." I assume that since Bob was not at work last Friday, that his leave began then...I have not seen anyone post that certificates were released to candidates without Bob's presence. I know "some" calls were made by other people in the past, but those were rare instances (at least not many reported). So I am not sure we will see any movement until his return. Maybe Friday the 24th is the big day? The problem is that there have been no confirmations at all that OPM has given names for the 2nd set of certificates to SSA.

I hold out some hope that OPM will have gotten the certs to ODAR by today. Also since this time we are talking about emails and not phone calls that could be done with Bob out of the office right....

Well, today is their day 1 for class and there is usually a welcome by DC Sklar involved, so let's hope so! I guess we will know after 4:30 Eastern time unless someone posts during a break or lunch....which I doubt. They will be very busy and any free time they will be eagerly meeting other colleagues!

Thanks so much for keeping the BobWatch going, SrAtty! I was keeping my fingers crossed, but it's too hard to get anything done that way.

I wonder if Bob knows that he's a rock star with multiple stalkers? I, for one, would LOVE his autograph (on an offer letter).

I picture Bob at his desk, hard at it on both his computer and his telephone. Every now and then Bob mops his sweaty brow with a towel, and then throws the towel into the crowd of screaming, swooning ALJ candidates.

Can anyone name a private organization with a huge budget and an avowed desire to hire a substantial number of new employees to fill a gaping need in service to their customers which fails to meet that goal because the entire process, lasting more than 18 months, must, in the end, be funneled through a single individual? And when that individual takes a well-deserved vacation, why is there no one in the entire organization who can step in and keep the process moving forward?
I guess I am just feeling frustrated. I should follow this sage advice:
Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward. Kurt Vonnegut
End of rant.

Can anyone name a private organization with a huge budget .... End of rant. Welcome to the ALJ process. Been like this for many many years. I am not excusing the process nor do I like it but nothing we can do to change it. Yes your frustration is totally valid. Just imagine how claimants feel having to wait for a hearing and then wait some more for a decision. And we have to keep in mind that OPM still holds the key as Bob or anyone else at SSA cannot do a thing until they have the certs from OPM. This is not Bob's fault at all. Edit: I know you were not blaming Bob and are just frustrated with the process. And all this talk about Bob maybe misled you to think we are waiting on him. We are not. Right now we are waiting on OPM.

Marathon, not a sprint? I think this is an ultra marathon. Reminds me of: The Marathon des Sables (MdS, Marathon of the Sands, or Sahara Marathon)[1] is a six-day, 251 km (156 mi)[2] ultramarathon, which is the equivalent of six regular marathons. The longest single stage (2009) is 91 km (57 mi) long.
This multiday race is held every year in southern Morocco, in the Sahara Desert. It is considered the toughest foot race on Earth.[1][3] The first event of the Marathon started in 1986.
I'm not sure what stage of the Sables we are on, but I think we are all ready for the next stage.
