Got mine too. It says you can check your register status through the OPM ALJ helpdesk e-mail. I wonder if they will tell you if you have been three struck.

Good question. I'm not so sure. Thanking me for my "interest in working for SSA" seems a little ominous.

I did e-mail OPM, asking if I'm still a candidate for the position. Wonder how long it will take to get an answer.

Ok, when OMHA sent out the rejection, they added the phrase: "be advised that budget permitting, we plan to recruit for additional ALJ positions next fiscal year." Making it sound like there was still some glimmer of light at the end of the long dark tunnel.
SSA/ODAR's letter sounds more ominous, and final. For those who haven't seen it:
"Dear ALJ Candidate, I am sorry to advise that you were not selected for an Administrative Law Judge position with the Social Security Administration, Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. Thank you for your patience during this process and for your interest in working for SSA. If you have questions about your status on OPM’s ALJ register, please email OPM directly at aljapplication@opm.gov."

Got mine too. I felt the email could be form letter or could imply that I am totally out of the running. Not reassuring at all. Sounds like we all got the same email.

Taking that email at face value, it seems targeted to both those who were deemed three struck and thus are essentially inactive for the remainder of the current register, and those who simply were not offered a position but will be considered in future certs. It seems to invite the recipient to email OPM to find out which category you are in.

I received this email. I only had two cities so I didn't think I was three struck . Right. Thanks for the ray of hope. It would be impossible for you to be three struck.

You will not be told you were three struck in any genetic email like this from ODAR.
Even if someone is three struck, that does not necessarily mean they are "inactive for the rest if the current register, either with SSA/ODAR or done other agency.
By the way, it is technically possible to be three struck with two cities if more than one vacancy was filled in one or both of the cities.
I don't think the wording of that email means anything in particular. My bet is that everyone not hired, including those who were only "filler" will get the same email.

Were these emails sent out in the past? Does this give us any new info re timing of the second cert?

[ How do you know they would not send a form letter? Do you know how others have been notified that they were three struck? The whole process has been so dehumanized I guess I would not be surprised to find out that either they send you a form letter or never even notify you.

On the last register, lots of people found out they were three struck when ODAR asked that all the three struck be left off the cert. That was in Feb 2012. Some people have called Bob and asked him. Because three strikes is not necessarily the end, given the agency's discretion, they are not going to send out an email telling those who were considered three times that they were three struck. Especially at this early stage in this register, with the new cert process. ODAR may well have passed over some people they will hire later. Everyone needs to CALM DOWN.

Got it too. Pretty sure I was "filler" because I got a bunch of cities on supplemental saturday which IMHO means I was added to the very end of the scores, so I think it is a pretty safe bet I didn't get considered at all once SSA only went with 70. But that is my best guess. Hope that helps.

It's probably just a form that went out to everyone interviewed and not hired.
But, with regard to their invitation "If you have questions about your status on OPM’s ALJ register, please email OPM directly at aljapplication@opm.gov.," I hope someone who received the e-mail takes them up on it. I'm dying to hear their answer.

On the plus side, this e-mail makes it sound like they've closed the book on the first cert once and for all. Maybe the second is not far away.

I think unless SSA had you disqualified on a basis that would disqualify you from being on the register, all you'll get from OPM is that you remain on the register.
That said, if I were a first certer not hired, I would ask OPM for clarification of my register status to be sure I remained on the register.
