It looks like offers for the March 2015 classes are done. The start of new offers should probably start to roll out for the May classes sometime soon. Then, probably like this time, after hiring one class (24 to 25 ALJs), some cities will be added to the mix. Then, after a few interviews at Falls Church for the new candidates, not on previous certs, additional offers will be made to round out the second set of classes.
This seems to be the new pattern we have seen emerge in this process. So, don't fret there are still many more opportunities (about 150 more position this FY) which will occur if you haven't been hired yet. Good luck to all.

I am not as convinced they are finished for March yet. They have not hit 50 and althouth they try to give 4 weeks notice, there have been occasions in the past where they have given as little as 2 weeks notice on offers. There is still time. Trying to be optimistic here....

If they stop hiring for March now, they'll likeky need to either have more than 5 classes this FY or scale back on their plan to hire 250.

Remember, some folks don't need four weeks or two weeks.
Some folks just need fifteen minutes, or enough time to get from the courthouse to the local ODAR office.
Heck, I'd even skip lunch.

I want to be an optimist too and believe there is still hiring to be done for March. But our polls show 40 hired for March. And, although the participation rate has been really good since the first cert, maybe there are just 5 to 7 new hires that haven't voted. (He said like a true pessimist ).

Hey fellow Board members, I wasn't trying to be a pessimist. I was just trying to be a realist. My gut feeling is the two classes of 24 to 25 have been hired and are ready to roll unless someone declines an offer after acceptance. The good news is more hiring is just around the corner, so don't despair. I haven't accepted despair yet, although it has knocked on my door a few times lately. I will keep my head up and hope for the best in one of the future classes yet to be hired for this fiscal year.

Two questions: 1. Whenever the offers for the March 23 start date are officially done, do we think there then will be a lull, to allow another working of the transfer list, before the offers for the May 18 start date start rolling out? *
2. Now that dozens and dozens of folks with higher scores have been hired (congrats to all!) and thus removed from all the city certs they were on, does ODAR reassess the "reachability" of those of us who are left? I'm asking on behalf of myself and anyone else who was notified they were being considered for fewer than all of the cities in our GALs for which certs have been issued and remain outstanding. Just wondering if it's possible to float up into mathematical reachability for a city you weren't previously being considered for (and would that prompt a notification from ODAR asking you to re-rank your cities?), or if once issued, the cert list for any given city is fixed and would have to close and be re-requested from OPM before you could possibly appear on it for the first time. I'll hang up and listen. Thanks! *The ALJs who started January 26 will not be eligible to submit their names to the transfer list until April 26. So I'm guessing there may be *some* transfer activity before offers for May start rolling in earnest, but if (like me) your chances of being picked up would improve if some of the vacancies filled in January came open again I think it's pretty clear that the next set of offers will go out before any transfers by the Jan. 26 hirees can create additional openings.

Well, there are already many people on the transfer lists for various cities without the recent hires. They will work those transfers prior to a cert for those cities. Now, if there is a cert still open, they do not work transfers for that city. It is all very city specific now. If city X has an opening, and was on this last cert, then they can get supplmental names for that city if they need them, or they may have enough names to work with already. There is no way to really know. This is part of the mystery.
As to there being a lull, it depends on how many people need to be interviewed. If we have new cities pulled then there will be new folks who have not yet intereviewed and that will take some time. But if the process works the way it did this last time, there is not much time in between pulling certs, interviewing, and making offers. Rolling right along!

The January 26 class actually started on the payroll on January 25, so I believe that they are eligible for transfer on April 25.

I was driving all day yesterday and am trying to catch up on my phone. Please forgive me if I missed something above. I think they may still be making offers for March because we still don't have offers on a few cities. It is possible we missed those offers but that many different cities? That seems unlikely. Given though how few cities are left I wonder if they will have enough slots to roll into May or if we might not see a longer pause for the issuance of new cities.
Somebody above asked about restacking for a given city after offers had been made. In the 1st or 2nd hire that happened. I can't look on my phone but maybe someone else recalls that.
Bob I want to reiterate I don't need any time at all just call me.

I'm sorry but I can't seem to figure out if the Baltimore office has been filled. Can anyone shed light on that?

I'm sorry but I can't seem to figure out if the Baltimore office has been filled. Can anyone shed light on that? Our poll shows a vote for an acceptance in Baltimore. Assuming the vote is accurate, we nonetheless don't know whether SSA plans to hire only one or more than one there.

There is a new hire going to Baltimore, and this hire will fill all of the judge's offices in the office.

With what sadie said, we also need to keep in mind traditional ALJ offices may be a bit different since new ALJs can go into writer offices if the newbie ALJ agrees. Interesting times!

So, can we safely assume that all offers for the March 23 start date have been made?
Is there a chance that any new offers for the certs announced in January 2015 would carry over to the May start date (not counting the three people who already have been scheduled for May)?

Hard to say if March 23 is done. It seems like it since we are within 4 weeks of the start date and there has not been a reported March 23 offer for some time, so I would guess March offers are done. But who really knows? I think it is likely that some of the certs announced in January will carry over into the May starting class. I think some of the November announced certs will also carry over. It will be interesting to see if they announce any additional certs for the May group as well.
