With all these old bands doing tours this Summer, got a little nostalgic. What was your first concert? I saw Cheap Trick in the Boston Garden in HS.

Wow, too long ago to really remember, but I think it was either Bob Seger or Billy Joel. I'll go with Billy Joel because I just took all my kids to go see him a few weeks ago and they loved it! Good memories.

I'm dating myself, but probably my first concert was one of those R&B "Review" shows. Performers such as Gladys Knight and the Pips, Ike and Tina Turner, Little Stevie Wonder and several other groups would appear for about a three hour show. Each would do maybe 10 songs or so, and then the next act would come on. Performers such as James Brown--the hardest working man in show business (and he was)--would be the only performer on stage that night.
Some of the pop groups would also do the same type of show, but they just weren't as dynamic as the R&B groups.
Later on I remember seeing the Allman Brothers Band (after Duane's death), J. Geils Band, B. B. King, Freddie King and the fabulous Muddy Waters Band, to name a few. Those were good times for a very young Pixie.

When I was in grade school I went to a hootenanny. Does that count?

Well young'uns, lets see... In 1963, the first was either Murray the K's Swingin Soiree at the Albee in Brooklyn (Stevie Wonder and I were both 13) or a Pete Seeger concert at Carnegie Hall.

Ok, can spouses play? Mine saw the Charlie Daniels band in 1979, Nassau Coliseum. My first shows were there also.

KISS - I was in 7th grade and went with a friend and her parents. My parents didn't want to let me go, but I begged and pleaded until I wore them down. I should probably go call my Mom and Dad and tell them they were right :-)

Reba McEntire. However, the first concert I chose to attend was Tom Petty.

When I was in grade school I went to a hootenanny. Does that count? Did everybody sing along? There were songs people sang to. There were lots of songs performers played and sang and everyone else listened to. It was during the early sixties folk revival.

Eric Clapton at the Yale Bowl. I believe it was his first concert after leaving Cream. Great show. And Pixie, my friends and I were big Muddy Waters fans. I saw him and his band several times in the 70's and 80's.
Thinking back, I must have been in a baby stroller for that Clapton show. : )

Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Waters tour in 1969. My first real date and my first concert. What a way to start!

The Beach Boys in Washington DC - 1964. Unless you count the August 28, 1963 March on Washington at the Lincoln Memorial.

Paul McCartney and Wings over America -- first concert in the Kingdome, Seattle. Then, Eagles with Linda Ronstadt as warm up. It was a good summer.
