Maybe you're the last one. Nope. I also got one. I was going to wait until after Christmas to address the GAL expansion, but decided to go ahead and submit it in light of their follow-up email. I suggest everybody who has not yet modified their GAL wait until 4:55 pm on 1/6/2016 to get started. Nothing like the fear of an inopportune internet crash to get the old adrenaline pumping!

Actually, I was going to start the survey at 3:30 on January 6th, and linger over each state, each city, and whether I should continue this marathon. I really wanted to see how many emails I could get from OPM to remind me to take the survey, not because I had any real decisions here to stress over.
But like aljwantabe, I wimped out and submitted my expanded list today. The spouse surprised me with some far out cities (the 1960's version of "far out", not the westward expansion version) so my 'safe' list of 15 new cities exploded to 45! Yay!
To steal a phrase - it really, really, really is a good time to be on the register.

And after yesterday we get to be on it three more years. Yippee!

Very crazy. If anyone was thinking this marathon of March 2013 to December 2015 is long, Gary is right, yippee, we're not even halfway through. Reminds me of the late great Madeline Khan singing "I'm Tired" in Blazing Saddles - I'd link it on here but I've got to get back to work!!

So is the consensus on this board that those who do not want to change their GAL and are still interested in being an ALJ, we should answer "Yes" to the question whether we are still interested in the job (despite instructions to leave it blank if there are no changes to your GAL)?

In an excess of caution, I would answer it.

Some have been on the road since 2007, others since 2010. It is a marathon.

In an excess of caution, I would answer it. If you are going to complete part of it, I would also complete the GAL portion, reiterating to what cities you are willing to relocate. Even if they are the same.

That's how I approached it. Even though I wasn't changing my GAL let's not forget that several people reported not being able to access their initial choices so I figure many folks will duplicate their response in the survey. I figured better to be safe than sorry.

I too received the reminder......life has been very busy here. You may (or may not) have noticed all my recent posts have been in the very early a.m., very early. It definitely gave me the feeling they want us to reply promptly. It is will be a great time to be on the register!
And Madeline Kahn's song, oh I'm just too darned tired to sing it's praises, other than.........awesome performance!

Unless you are absolutely sure that you need to limit your GAL to a certain city or geographic area, select "all." Any other decision is like counting your chickens before they hatch. You will never know when an agency will come calling or where the vacancies will be. What is a "yes" today may be a "no" tomorrow.
By selecting "all," you are widening the scope of possibilities and not just for ODAR. That GAL lists sites where there are offices for other agencies and none for ODAR.
Then, if and when, you make certificates for various sites, you can start winnowing down the acceptable sites.

I replied to my expansion email on the first day.
Selfishly, I was a bit disappointed with the GAL expansion.
I had forgot about my GAL selections until I started reading this forum a few months ago. I went back to my 2013 USAJobs application and saw that I had originally checked every geographical location on the list.

I do not recall seeing an "all" box to click. Instead, I clicked every state + Puerto Rico and the next screen had cities/towns for each state selected-I had to click every city one by one. Hopefully, either method still results in the same result.

If you aren't now, this is the time to seriously bone up on Rosetta Stone if that is where you really want to be. Seriously though, for those fluent in Spanish and with a sense of adventure, it is a location the agency has a difficult time filling.
